To get enough iron on a vegan diet you should eat a lot of seeds, spinach or seaweed. All vegan bodybuilders eat plenty of seeds.

You were plant based, never Vegan. If you are Vegan, you are in it for the ethics and can never compromise on that philosophy. Plus 50% of the population are iron deficient and yet the vast majority of people are eating a standard diet. I call your bullshit. Iron deficiency, B12 deficiency, vitamin D3 deficiency. when are people going to realize that Veganism is NOT a healthy diet to be on? it's only good for a detox or a cleanse, that's it! Anything that causes you to miss essential nutrients is not goo for you, period! LOL!
Did your doctor test your blood for anti-gluten antibodies (aka antibodies agains wheat?) .
It is possible you were eating too much gluten (wheat) with your vegan diet and then you eat less gluten when you introduced fish and then meat… just a though
i experienced comparable health issues (iron, but also protein and omega 3 deficiencies) when i became vegetarian a few years back. i started integrating fish and some meats, and the issues largely evaporated. produce continues to be my primary food source, but my (limited) fish and meat consumption help complete my overall nutrient profile…
