MUMBAI: Over 500 activists and animal lovers participated in the animal liberation march at Carter road in Bandra (west) on Saturday to highlight the extreme cruelty involved in the meat and dairy products industries.
The participants urged people to become vegan which does not involve animal cruelty and is also healthy for the environment.
Vegan activist Arvind Kannan, who came for the event all the way from Chennai, said: “This is a very impressive turnout of people who are promoting veganism. Slowly, a lot many world citizens are becoming vegan as they are aware of the horrible cruelties taking place in milk dairy and meat farming.”
Slogans like: “Stop taking milk, eggs! Stop all animal cruelties!” were raised at the march.
Animal activist Sneha Visaria said: “There is more awareness how calves are denied their mothers’ milk and even touch, so that milk can be sold to humans. Cows become like factory machines, which is cruelty.”
Activists also highlighted how animal raised in farms for meat industry lead to rise in methane and other gases which is bad for the environment.
The organizers said that many more marches like this one will be organized in other cities too to promote veganism.
