Although the seat upholstery, as well as the different moldings used in the interior of Tesla models, already have a very good quality, Vicki von Holzhausen – the wife of Tesla’s chief designer, Franz von Holzhausen – has launched her new private company where they will offer new interior finishes for the different models of the Austin company. Vicki von Holzhausen will install these new interior upholstery through Tesla’s specialty parts company, Unplugged Performance.
Although the interior space of Tesla’s electric models has an acceptable quality for its price level, as we have already mentioned, there are already certain companies that are willing to give a twist to what is currently presented by Tesla; thus making the interiors contain an extra point in terms of quality of materials, both upholstery and specific moldings.
The Von Holzhausen brand markets these new interior upholstery through its official website, as well as its own social networks. These materials, according to Tesla manager’s wife, are treated completely by hand and have a totally vegan origin, developed right from the beginning by the company founded by Vicki von Holzhausen. A few days ago, a first tweet was tweeted in which a series of images of new upholstery for the interior of a Tesla model could be quickly seen, while only a few days later there was already official confirmation of the launch by its founder, and also by the specialist workshop that will be in charge of its installation and distribution.
In this project, Franz von Holzhausen, chief designer of Tesla, has not taken sides beyond showing all his support for the company launched by his wife – and to which he has already offered his own Tesla Model 3 to serve as a showcase for what Vicki von Holzhausen is capable of doing – which would have also previously passed through the hands of Unplugged Performance for a set-up of the electric model.
The team of specialists led by Vicki von Holzhausen has developed fully sustainable and high-tech materials with which to completely reshape the image of the passenger compartment of Tesla models. These specialists have patented a new composition called Banbū Leather, which is presented as a very soft vegan leather fabric, resistant to scratches, stains and made with bamboo as the basic and main component. This very particular upholstery is now available for all electric models of Tesla: Model S, Model Y, Model X and Model 3; additionally, it can also be purchased for future models when they are finally available, such as the Cybertruck and the Roadster.
The main characteristics featured by the new interiors signed by Vicki von Holzhausen are the Banbū Leather upholstery, which basically has a 33% lower carbon footprint than regular animal skin treatments, as well as a lighter weight as compared to actual cow leather. The front panel will also incorporate a metal plate engraved with the initials of both companies (von Holzhausen and Unplugged Performance), also with full customization of patterns and textures.
This material will be available in various shades: black, grey, red or brown. The first deliveries will take place in the United States, although the company already has many orders coming from Europe, which will be delivered by early 2023. This new passenger compartment will be available for a starting price of $29,995 and they already accept reservations on their official Website.
