Yes and very much so. That's why it's unsustainable for pretty much anyone long term. Humans have always eaten cooked food. There aren't any cultures who just eat raw food. It's difficult to get fat soluble vitamins and protein. Generally requires massive sugar consumption.
ye lost ur teeth m8
Oh you must be deficient…
No, are you kidding me??? My teeth falling out is not deficiency!
it can be deficient, any diet can! approach makes all the difference http://youtu.be/S4_k_11_mek
If you have been trying to burn up fat quickly, you should do a google search Nifty Fat Blaster. That might help you get the body you deserve.
Many different algae contain b12, it is a bacteria. Many meat eaters are also b-12 deficient. This guy is one of the best long distance runners in the world, you think he should bulk up? For what? Fueling and cooling muscle has no benefits in running. Also check out vegan body building… might change your thoughts on whey.
Humans are suited for tender foods? Did you just come up with this? Humans have very long intestines as well which is why meat actually ROTS in our guts when consumed from sitting in them for so long. People like meat because it contains opiads not to mention texture or taste and humans only started eating it along with grains since many left the jungles for the plains (for whatever reason) and had to rely on these sources for survival. Grains meat and dairy are not our IDEAL foods
thats another ▐ ($20$) ▐ ever seen a gorillas belly? THEY HAVE HUGE INTESTINES
humans dont have vegetarian intestines, humans are suited for tender foods.
to break the diet debate theres the japanese diet, healthiest people in the world, vegies fruits fish meat, acid alkalyne balance
for the paleo haters, there is nation of EXTREME paleo eaters, its called mongolia, 7/8 healthy as japan
look up avi lehyani (vegan) franco columbu (paleo/omnivore) its a matter of whats right for the person
That's a fair statement. However my focus isn't B-12. My focus is promoting natural hygiene and organic production of food. Those are 2 things that are proven to improve life and make it enjoyable.
Pretty interesting don't you think? Back in 1996 when Campbell first made the hypothesis you are repeating, he said this in the last line of his scientific paper: "I can say with some confidence that time will tell quite a different story than the one we've been hearing." Yet 16 years later and still no one has been able to prove it and even Campbell himself has deferred to others opinions.
What do you make of that?
Nice hypothesis. Lets see what Campbell says now about his own hypothesis:
"This was written in 1996. Now, 12 years later, I still don't know that this view whether this view is right. However, in the meanwhile, I have been influenced by two of my clinician colleagues, Dr. Michael Greger and Dr. Alan Goldhamer, that their understanding of the literature and their experience in the clinic suggest that B12 deficiency may be seen in vegans, thus advocate B12 supplementation. I defer to their view"
Beyond being obnoxious, he is just wrong and he is giving advise to people that causes great harm. The only reason Vegans need supplements is they purposely remove all animal products from their diet by choice.
It's fine to make that choice. Go for it. But he goes one step farther and lies to convince people to do something that is very likely to harm or in rare cases kill them.
So whatever ethical gain he thinks he may have gained by going Vegan he immediately looses by telling those lies.
I am a new vegan, but I find this guy totally obnoxious.
Sup, have you thought about this method called the SkinniMaker Diet? (google it). My mother in law says it helps people lose weight easily.
@thatfruitarianchick Come on, wake up! B12, K2, cholesterol (yes you need it to produce testosterone) and of course real iron. 3 million years of human evolution doesn't lie!
@thatfruitarianchick You really don't need enlightening in order to grasp the essential nutrients in meat (assume grass fed, organic). You think I'm stupid. You're going to presume all meat has mercury, then ask me that dumb question? Anyway I'll wait while you go show me the people on this earth, traditional peoples not mad Americans, who ate only fruit. I'll wait.
i´m vegan and i feel great, have less anxiety, sleep better. You can live on meats alone…hell, you can live on Big Macs alone, but the quality of your health will be very defficient. You people say that you felt terrible on a raw diet, I think you went about it the wrong way. Besides you can be as raw as you want. I'm only about 50% raw. Just adding alll this raw food has been a major improvement in my health. If you eat some meat and have your veggies raw, you are helping your health big time
Look, at this point hopefully you look into the eyes of this madman, hear his words, and use your intuition to conclude he is full of shit. Yes, raw food vegan diet is totally deficient. Its a denial of the reality that is our fossil record. His use of what meat is says it all – one extreme to the next . Strangely we find that organic, grass-fed beef to be superior to a Whopper and providing superior essential nutrients than raw veggies (granted, you should eat your veggies).
@MoMagha actually you can live on meat alone, or a meat with minimal vegetables diet, like hundred of people do in the northern parts of the world were there are very very little greens. Only Protein and fat are need to live. the body can make its own glucose. We do have the enzymes to digest meat like other mammals. Humans carry out that experiment on a daily basis. You can have meat in your diet for good health. Again you have no logic and there is no point in carrying this on.
@TheGreatFoxKing Well using the same logic, humans simply don't have the enzymes to digest raw meat like Foxes. Try surviving on raw meat alone (or even cooked meat) and see how long you can go. If you live in tropics and eat only meat, your body will go into toxic shock within days due putrefying gut. Humans evolved in the tropics eating fruits, veges and nuts. Meat was occasionally used during droughts and when other plant food was not available. Eating meat is not optimal to health
@MoMagha You try eating grass and see what happens. Those are different mammals than humans so they their body breaks down food much differently. Those animals have different enzymes and bacteria to help break down the food. Those animals also spend most of their life eating because those foods are not as calorie dense or protein dense are meats. So its seems your logic is wrong.
@aishanak You get vital nutrients from spirulina, for example…
@deolm I don't know if your juicing yet but that makes a tremendous difference also. My neighbor make all nat smoothies in am and veggie juice for lunch.
Nuts have a higher concentration of protien than most meat. Cashews 6g of pro per serving, walnuts 4g pro per serving
@MrMZaccone not true, A person who eats raw gets plenty of protien from nuts, goofy!
@charityjunebug So what's causing your "mild scratchy throat" if it's not a cold? Sounds like you have a bad case of logical fallacy to me.
Your analogy is extremely suspect. In any case, a raw vegan diet IS deficient in protien, period.
@ocergnairb That's a good point mate. I have just tried starting to eat as raw as possible (mainly for my type 1 diabetes [I have decreased my insulin need by 60%-80%] but also for increased energy levels, better eyesight, etc) but I also eat cooked food too. It's not like my raw food intake is completely voided from eating some cooked food!
@MichaelBallack91 In general I do not see the Vegancult diet as being practical for most people. Maybe there are a small percentage who can bear eating this untasteful, depressing, inadequate diet……..maybe???? Vegancultism is a pain in the ass because of the limited choices you have when you want to eat out. I will not go over the shortcomings nutritionally, I am sure you have heard them before, these are very valid problems in my eyes. What a crummy, boring way to eat.
Tim is awesome and very inspirational. This society lacks a lot of common sense and a LOT of people who eat fast food are deficient in B12…along with every other vitamin pretty much.
@tickyul
If you want to bring the Bible into this, what did Adam and Eve eat in the Garden of Eden? Was this not "paradise", implying that it was perfect? Can't recall them eating cows or pigs or chickens…hmm.
God gave us dominion over animals. He also gave us dominion over our children. Should we eat them too? And as for Jesus, yes he ate fish. But that's just one religion…
Look at Buddhism. Stop criticizing alternative diets, when our standard is shit. Heart disease ISN'T natural.
If people eat a cow or a goat to get their proteins, then how do these animals get their body protein from just eating green grass? This equation doesn't balance using this kind of logic! Domesticated animals most useful to humans for thousands of years like elephants, horses and bulls used for doing work on the farm or drawing a carriage loaded with people eat only raw vegan food.
Another reason to avoid the Vegan Diet is EFA deficiency, primarily DHA/EPA. Plant based Omega3 efa, known as Alpha Linolenic acid has to be converted for your body to use as DHA/EPA, this conversion rate in humans is very low, usually at a rate of 1-4%. Jesus, the saviour of the world ate fish, it should be ok for everyone else.
@cokburn625 i agree. he didn't.
