I'm curious how others have found that diet factors into their ME/CFS recovery. What has worked best for you? What doesn't work for you?
Hi Raelan! I’m happy to have found your channel! I’ve been struggling really really bad with severe CFS & just spent most of the winter on bedrest which had both benefits & detriments but has left me 20lbs heavier than my norm. I eat healthy…mostly vegetarian, no sugar, gluten, caffeine, alcohol etc. & very little dairy. But I really need help with meal planning as I don’t eat enough variety & not sure how to eat well enough to aid recovery. I see you now incorporate a small amount of animal protein into your diet at dinner time & eat vegan for the most part. This is pretty much exactly what I want to do, although I’m good with just vegan too…do you have a sample biweekly meal plan you can share?? 🙏🏻 I’m desperate for the help so I can get back to work to support my kids & start living well again, & you’re the first person I have found that resonates. Thanks for all of the great info to help on the recovery journey, I finally have some hope of being able to have a “normal” life again! 🙏🏻💕
Hi Raelen!
At what times do you eat?
And could you show an example of a meal plan (one that you filled in)?
Thanks a lot!
Hi, are you still vegan and have you still energy on that diet?
Beautiful kitchen!
Another great video. I’m so glad I’ve found you. Your videos are so encouraging and make me feel positive about my journey and the changes I am making to help with my CFS. Thank you
Whole-food plant-based was the key for me too! I've also cut out flours, oils, and added sugars. I feel significantly better and I notice it most with an improved cognitive capacity and central nervous system resiliency. Thank you for this excellent video; it's well laid out and covers a gamut of info in an easily digestible (see what I did there) way. As an aside, when you wondered about markers that men could look for I thought about Dr Ornish and how he often says "eat this way and the sex is hotter and the planet is cooler". So that's something to look forward to with the WFPB lifestyle.
please suggest proper diet for non vegan
Thank You 🙏🌿🙏
Is this how you fixed your acidity levels? As mentioned in your book…
Is this how you fixed your acidity, as you mention in your book?
I’ve now decided to switch to plant based, I’m ketoish high veg. Low fruit, I feel like my body wants off meat, I’m going to follow your advice. Any advice appreciated. Love ❤️ you
Today was the vegan shopping. Tomorrow will be the cooking day😁 Hope it can make change for me.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience 🌸
After I got Post Viral Fatigue I started eating eggs and fish to get my protein up as I thought I needed to get strength from those foods. I watched the Game Changers documentary and I am completely reverting to my no sugar no refined carbs plant based food. Coming off this due to time restraints and over work is so how I ended up in this mess. Back to the diet I know is good for me. Thanks for sharing this.
Hi Raelan, thanks for the information. You don't mention if you used organic or not. I was wondering if you think it's relevant or not? You mentioned antibiotics in animals, so I was wondering about pesticides etc., on crops.
Thanks in advance, best wishes.
I never would have found your channel without Googling, "Plant Based Diet for me/cfs". I will come back to this video later today
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!! I feel so grateful for these videos
raelan i think you should also do a makeup tutorial! i love the way you do yours 😀
I struggle with the concept of the plant-based diet because surely our ancestors adapted to eating meat. I know farming and therefore dairy was probably too recent in our timeline for humans’ bodies to have evolved to that, so that makes sense. But we were hunter-gathers for millions of years – would’ve our bodies have adapted to work best as omnivores? (This is coming from someone who’s done very little research because it’s quite overwhelming how much totally different information is out there – like the plant-based science can be just as convincing as the ‘all whole foods’ science). What do you think about this? I suppose everyone’s body is different and you’ve just gotta see what works for you but I also feel like I’m hurting my body bouncing between all these different diets. I do think whole foods and lots and vegetables is the key tho. But exhaustion, depression and the bakery near my house make it hard in practice… I swear I use all my willpower forcing my legs to walk me out of bed that I have hardly any left for responsible eating. This illness in combo with depression is just the hardest thing ever! (But no, lots of people have it way way worse. I’m so lucky I don’t have much pain) I’m 22 years old – been stuck back home with mum and dad since I was 19. Well, this comment went off on a bit of a tangent haha whoops. You know, a little part of me (the selfish part of me) enjoyed lockdown because I had less FOMO because everyone was being forced to live how I live – terrible I know, but kinda understandable hopefully. And then everyone went out of lockdown and my life hardly changed and that sucked. It’s 4am right now and I’m feeling so frustrated. And yes, I know I shouldn’t be on my phone and should be focusing on getting quality sleep. I am so sick of being me! Altho I don’t even think sleep helps me. Sometimes my best days are after a sleepless night. That type of tired is so much easier to deal with! In summary, I get very frustrated with myself for not trying hard enough to do the basic stuff that I know should help – i.e meditation, yoga, low refined carbs, not getting in the crash and burn cycle. And just by getting angry with myself I’m messing it up again because I should be practice self compassion!! Okay, sorry about that whole rant haha. Luckily I’m just an anonymous internet user so I can happily share all my *issues*. I am still interested in what you think about the fact our bodies are evolved to consume meat 🙂 ps your intro made me emotional because I just want to be able to live like that again ❤️
Thank you for the video!
Only thing I'd like to comment is that proteïn powder is very processed so it's not a whole foods.
Dear, now the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is found: radiation of microwave-oven(magnetron).
To stop you have to eliminate the oven out of the house.
The plug out of electricity net because the oven has also radiation when it is not in use.And out of the house because the oven has a high voltage capacitor.
The distance between an oven and a person is very important. After a 3 months without microwaves health becomes better.
The victims are more sensible and also the distance between victim and oven is important. After long time obesity is possible.
(Also possible: nightmares, change of character)Most people with a microwave arent chronically ill because some people are more sensitive for microwaves, also the distance person/microwave is very important. The oven in another place is more safe. The radiation become less when the oven gets older. Some ovens give less radiation then others. In Russia the less radiation is allowed by law.
I had much very positive reactions, some people recovered entirely. Sometimes not because it was being tired through other causes or diseases, not the real cfs.Take everyday a vitamin D supplement because almost everyone have to little.
I recently found your channels Raelan… soooo grateful for your content, it's really helping me keep up the good spirits as I go through my healing process. Haven't found any professionals down here in Peru who can help me with my process, so listening to other people's success stories becomes even more valuable.
Anybody here found good results with Medical Medium's recommendations? I've been following him for about a year now, seen some good results but not completely sure it's due to his diet.
Hi, I’m from Russia, currently fighting my fatigue. Recently (a few months ago) I also discovered that what we eat really makes how we feel. Since then I tried switching to raw vegan diet and prolonged fasting, but kinda slipped off. Now I do one meal a day and wanna try eating more sauerkraut, try kombucha, and widen the variety of fruits and veggies to feed myself and that bacteria. I’m looking forward to try to mix that variety into a smoothie and drink it till satiated because I don’t like nor greens in salad nor green juices/smoothies (or rather I’m just not used to it). I also just found video on Rachel O channel about fermented smoothie, maybe I’ll try that too. Then after a while I’ll try prolonged fasting again for a couple of weeks cause I’ve heard about lots of benefits that you don’t get with shorter fasts.
Chronic fatigue : difficult to find something. The radiation of microwaves (magnetron)oven creates tension in the muscles. That causes pain and also bad working of the guts: food is absorbed badly,so you have to little vitamins in the body. Also bad feeling in throat and tension in the rest of the body. Tension in the muscles is also bad sleeping.
Yup! You can be vegetarian and not eat vegetables! I have known a few vegans that eat a lot of starches and rarely anything green. But Gamechangers…a very controversial film, and not the best science. It tells people that you can't be healthy if you eat meat…. It scares people. So I never recommend it. There are many healthy vegans but there are also many healthy meat eaters, too. Nutrition is very individual, this the #1 nutrition truth. As for me…grains make me ill! Literally. I get inflammation in my body, not fun. I grew up on granola, but now I suffer if I eat it. And rice is the worst. So I eat mostly Veggies by far, w small amounts of quality meat and a lot of avocados, nuts and seeds. Keto-ish macros on a mostly vegan diet is how I eat, but I definitely like a good meat infusion now and then…I don't feel good at all on quinoa or beans. I had to do 5 different diets to come to that clarity.
Raelan, I think you'd find my story very interesting…since you offered, if you drop by http://www.EvolverWellness.com, the article "Finding My Teacher of Lifetimes" tells the story of finding my teacher Buddha Maitreya, in California, 20 years ago. It was SUPER epic. And it makes a great story (I included pictures ;-)). Oh, and I'm sad to hear that you're married…
Hello dear, firstly ,I want to thank you a lot for the inspiration and hope you give someone like me suffering from cfs for 6 years, and I would like to mention that I share a lot of interests with you such as the favorite dish of mine being rare steak but i have understood that red meat is so harmful to me.I have 2 questions which are so important to me to be answered.first ,which blood type are you?(I myself am a+) secondly I would like to know if high temperatures is so bad to you or not?,cause it bothers me a lot and I haven't heard you saying in your recovery stroies that hot places would bother you.thank you again in advance.
Loooove Kimchi! When I discovered it I got completely addicted and ate so much and so often I became a human balloon! Ow! Sorry gut! For anyone trying it for the first time, go slow! 😀 😀
Really appreciate this Raelan, I've already started to incorporate lots more of the whole food plant based meals and can say (very tentatively!) that I am enjoying it and feeling a little better! So thank you! Looking forward to seeing some more recipe videos from you! Laura Slater x
Love this Raelan thank you for such an informative video and excited for any future videos on this subject. I am not vegetarian or vegan however I was vegetarian for 11 years so I have that knowledge and skill at eating plant based dishes and have recently increased our intake of fruit, veg, pulses and have chicken or fish a lot less now, I have seen an improvement in my energy as my gut health has improved since introducing fermented foods too. My aim is to go vegetarian again but it has been a gradual process and I think if I lived alone I could go fully plant based no problem.💜
Thank you for this viideo. I have been doing this diet for Interstitial cystitis but have CFS too. I follow Dr McDougall. But I am kind of pessimistic with diet as many on CFS groups say they tried whole food pant based for many years but still not healed. What do you think? I am doing DNRS too, a psychological program.
Great video!
