BAY CITY, MI — Gatsby’s Seafood & Steakhouse specializes in steaks, but it also offers from-scratch vegan options with a full vegan menu and meatless specials every Wednesday.
Manager Dan Auger said Gatsby’s, located at 203 Center Ave. in downtown Bay City, is known for “steaks and seafood, first and foremost, with classic cocktails and a nice wine list.”
“All of our steaks are hand-cut in-house,” he said.
The 1855 ribeye, a 12-ounce cut of 1855 black angus ribeye “beautifully marbled and rich in flavor,” is one of the restaurant’s most popular entrees, but customers love the meat-free options, too.
During a recent weekday lunch rush, the kitchen produced a vegan gyro made with seitan instead of meat and a vegan pumpkin churro blondie with vanilla icing perfect for fall.
“We get great feedback on it,” Auger said of the vegan menu. “We’re one of the only places in the area that offers vegan items, and that seems to be well appreciated and well taken advantage of.”
“And it’s all homemade,” added Kyle Revette, who owns the restaurant and is one of the chefs. “It’s all from scratch.”
Rick Revette founded the restaurant with his son Kyle Revette in 2002. Kyle Revette has operated the restaurant since 2020.
Gatsby’s offers indoor and outdoor dining and is open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and closed on Sunday.
