My daughter developed H2S sibo immediately after taking Dr. Axe's soil based probiotics (which are spore-formers). Horrible and dangerous for vulnerable people, like those who are fighting leaky gut or have IBS. She's now gained 15 pounds in 5 months despite eating less than 1200 calories a day and exercising. She has rotten-egg smelly gas, bloating & constipation and feels, at age 17, like her life is over. Do not take spore-forming organisms/probiotics! They are new and people are discovering they can be dangerous and they are ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANT! I am so angry about these products.
I have exactly the same issues on a plant-based diet. I’m lucky I have no issues with fructans and fructose. However, I’m intolerant to gluten and I have trouble with soy, they act like a gos food for me. Sorbitol is the worst. I cannot eat high fat. I’m glad I stopped irritating my gut but I wanna cry as there is nothing much I can eat safely. Eating is a major stress in my life right now and it doesn’t help my social anxiety
Found this video from a SIBO vegetarian Low FODMAP search, thanks for sharing. I'm checking the advice from Jo Steppeniac and DrJockers, who disagree with some of the advised foods. Interesting. I shall experiment. Be aware of Gluten Free not actually being totally Gluten free and still not Keto friendly. These kind of foods gave me cramping and bloating too. Some of your things have raw cane sugar in which will spike insulin causing issues/craving. Also saw one of your hair colouring vids about a month ago, I'm currently doing veggie Keto 2MADIMF. Live Long and Strong! xxx
Great vid!!! However as far as I know low FODMAP diet should only be temporary, as a therapeutic tool with the aim to carefully bring back as much food variety as possible.
Thank you so much for this thorough video. I love the go macro bars so much (it might be an addiction!) but have been finding out they don’t agree with me lately. I don’t feel I can digest them, along with most other foods I’ve been eating. I’ve been vegan almost 5 years (originally in attempt to heal digestive illness). Recently found out I have atrophic gastritis unfortunately and suspect sibo or leaky gut as well. I want to try the low fodmap version to see if it helps. I will be sure to check out the book! Thanks again☺️🙏
I forgot about canned pineapple! I think I may get that book! I'm trying to blend all the gut friendly diets together and listen to my body. So tired of the pain 😥
New to your channel, I didn't realize your food restrictions. Do you or can you go out to dinner? Or can you ever have a glass of wine? I love this video and found it very informative but it looks very uneventful. However, I appreciate it's for your health. Thanks Lisa … ♡
Thank you so much for this video. I have IBS and have struggled with the medicine they gave me it didn't help at all in fact I felt like in some ways it made things worse. I saw this video when I was watching your latest and thought bingo that will help me big time. So I'm definitely going to get anf read this book my husband and I have been looking into which type of restrictive diet would best help me as I have other illnesses too. Fodmap was where I was thinking I would get the most help and results as well. So I'm definitely grabbing this book! Thanks again for your help and I'm praying for you in your new life and huge move that all goes well, your heart heals quickly and that a new love comes soon, can wait to watch your journey. God Bless you and keep you Lisa ❤💚💜💙💛😊
It's awesome you found a fix for yourself! That being said, I caution saying things like "If you have any digestive problems, this works…". It's not going to work for everyone, of course, but it's something to try.
btw, I started eating resistant starch everyday and it has totally helped rebuild my gut =) I still have symptoms but only when I eat my trigger foods rather than never knowing when just walking across the room would have me doubling over in pain and heading to the ER everyweek. I haven't gone to the er in almost 2 months! woot! so, if you aren't gluten sensitive, actually eating a lot of whole wheat can be amazing!! (specifically, shredded wheat, but absolutely no enriched wheat!! that has malt in it which can be a major trigger. tricuts and off brand frosted shreaded wheat from Walmart is low fodmap. the name brand one does have fodmap triggers) also, if you have any issues with starches, try eating them cold since it turns the starch into resistant starch which helps rebuild your gut wall. resixtant starch can help prevent cancer, fight diabetes, treat leaky gut symdrome and keeps your microbiome nice and happy =). resistant starches are: whole wheat, cold rice, cold potatoes, and green bananas. eat those after you take a crap load of probiotics and after about a month, your symptoms will be cut in half =D. of course, only eat the types f resistant starches you can tolerate, so cold rice is good to have on hand even on "bad tummy days" when you have to go BRAT for the nausea/pain. any kind of rice is fine, just eat it cold so it has more carbon atoms and turns into resistant starch. hope that helps!
oh… btw… if you like to eat fruit… only eat one serving at a time to make sure you don't eat to much fructose at once and increase your servings over time to find your limits. also, pineapple might not be the best for everyone since it does have the enzyme that can break down animal proteins in it (its the key ingredient in meat tenderizer) but everyone is different and might be ok with somethings but not others. ex. i'm fine with any kind/amount of mushroom, quinoa, coconut products, bell peppers and a modest amount of blackberries which are on the no no list, but i'm super sensitive to carrots, brown sugar, miso paste, and green beans which are on the ok list. just add one new food at a time and write down the time you ate it. if you start to have symptoms around 6-10 hours later when it enters your intestines then its because of the food you ate. also, sometimes quantity of the ingredient can walk the line of what is ok or not. ex, I can eat the so delicious coconut chocolate ice cream and homemade chocolate cake/brownies but a whole chocolate bar is too much for me. so, make sure to write down when you eat as well as what you eat, only including one new ingredient/food at a time. best of luck!
I needed this. Been overwhelmed watching endless videos on FODMAP. I'm going to get this book. Just finished listening to a radio show with the author. Oh btw, you sound Canadian. Still trying to get over your age. You don't look it so you must be doing something right. I'm the same age and get compliments that I look 32-36 but you look young as ever. Thank you for the help. I have dealt with stomach issues for so long, have seen multiple doctors, have had a few procedures even and when I discovered FODMAP my whole world changed!
I can’t eat quinoa as well, It took me a while to figure out that quinoa was the culprit … It appears that it has saponins which aren’t very friendly to ones gut…
Great video, Im dealing with this also and im working with a NPD, I to can not eat raw apples but if you like them you can stew them in a pot and add some cinammon super good. 🙂
Just came across this after I was researching low fodmap. The no garlic/onion thing is going to kill me!! I season everything with garlic powder and onion powder!
So glad I found you. I’m in constant pain. I have GERD and IBS/chronic constipation. I heard of the vegan low fodmap from my dietician and I was going to start tomorrow. I need that book because all he gave me was one paper (they typically do meat eaters).
THANK YOU!!!! I am in the same boat… Vegan and thought I was going to have to give it up and was heartbroken….. THANK YOU so much for sharing this……… My other issue is that I'm prone to kidney stones so have to watch oxalates so spinach is definitely out as well as certain fruits, nuts and seeds so it further complicates my diet…… Feel like I should just start eating cardboard as almost everything I eat lately causes one problem or another.
The problem I'm having is a boyfriend who is also having symptoms of severe IBS, but has a deep-seated aversion to the kitchen. A FODMAP diet requires a lot of cooking. His aversion is part due to a fire trauma he experienced as a kid and part due to the fact that he just can't cook! He's just plain clumsy. It's so bad he somehow managed to burn oatmeal after I fought so hard to teach him over the course of a week with just 3 simple ingredients. Sometimes we have to be apart for days at a time and when he's alone he will literally starve or poison himself with foods he's not supposed to eat or eating stuff like cereal and living off little snacks that don't do much for him nutritionally. I don't know what to do as far as full meal plans that he can simply warm up and microwave while I'm gone. In part, figuring out pre-made low FODMAP meals will help me as well while I'm home because some days I just don't feel like cooking. I'm honestly very dubious of buying pre-packaged stuff because you never know what your reaction will be.
Really really awesome & helpful, thank you 😊 I'm suffering with IBS and recently come across a low fodmaps diet from another vegan youtuber I follow & have found an Australian vegan low FODMAP blog called thefodmapfriendlyvegan which has educated me a lot in just reading through her website and she offers an ebook, but it's great to see an actual recipe book to hold in your hand which is vegan too 😊✌🏼️ will be watching your test results & supplements video now – I just bought a shop with some non-FODMAP foods and have already become gluten free and not eating onion due to my daughter having a major allergic reaction a few days ago! I'm so sad by no mushrooms and apples though which are favourites in this house! Had our last ones for supper tonight and potentially having problems from them already just a couple of hours later :-/ I thought they weren't a problem for me! Anyway, really appreciate the information 😊✌🏼️ xoxo
Even though I don't have digestion issues, this is great product information…..I will definitely be adding a number of these products to my kitchen…..Best Wishes on your continuing health journey.
thank you for this video! i have had some digestive problems recently and gained weight on vegan diet.. really quite upsetting i am struggling alot with what to eat. I just feel ill all the time.
It sounds like you have SIBO which is causing you to have IBS. Would check it out with your dr
How do you survive off of only 1,200 calories!!

Thank you so much for explained everything . You did a great job .
I’m new here . Do you have more videos about fodmap diet .
I just ordered this book thank you
Thank you very much. Finally someone talks about it clear and direct!
So glad I saw this, I dealt with SIBO in past, had to change my diet and get serious about it. Got pretty sick and I was diagnosed with pancreatitis, I had to do a lot of research on medication and so on, my diet consists of 60-70% fruit/veggie and the rest 30-40% smoothies and shakes. I had the luck to get this book from a friend with lots of recipes for my SIBO affection and helped a lot in my recovery process:
https://www.amazon.com/SIBO-cookbook-gastritis-intestinal-effective-ebook/dp/B07H2MPCPP/ref=sr_1_12?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1550951145&sr=1-12&keywords=sibo+cookbook
For these dealing with SIBO, I recommend persistence and constant research

Monash University ( the creator of FODMAP diet ) , says coconut is only safe in VERY SMALL quantities.
