Hi I have never liked udad daal. Since childhood I will pull a face Not sure why but I bought udaf daal. I tried your recipe with matter and aamchur. I loved it. Uddad daal is blant no taste and no matter how much spice you add it never too good for me. Thanks for brilliant recipe 😋
This looks like a plate of sunshine! It's another good reason for me to buy this book, too! Thanks, Chetna. What a great channel, I'm so happy that I discovered it. It's made my change to being a vegan so much easier.
Hello Chetna. I can’t tell you how much I love your channel, and of course, Indian food. It’s the best, healthiest and most delicious anywhere. I wondered if you could do a video on Indian grocery stores. I live near Buffalo New York, where there are several lovely Indian food stores. They are wonderful, but I am overwhelmed at the choice in brands and foods. I have two of your books, two are on their way, and my vegan friend has a birthday in May and ordering your books for her will make the perfect gift. Thanks so much
Finally a use for my Amchur powder! This recipe was delicious by the way! I used regular yellow splitlentils and green beans and it turned out great. You offer a lot of warming and grounding recipes, which i absolutely love. Thank you for everything you do! love you ❤
Thank you for sharing your love and care and knowledge. Question: what's the brand and model of your granite colored larger cooking vessel with the lovely wooden handles? I and others would like to know. It looks so practical and artful. Thank you.
Chetna, you always cheer me up because it feels like we've popped into a friend's kitchen: "I'm out of coriander, but what else is lurking in the fridge I can use up?" Well, that's reality! Your optimism and can-do attitude is a real tonic, and you create some of my favourite moments of the day.
Hello. I love your channel. I wonder if you can help me figure out how long to pressure cook the dal in an instant pot? I am a new cook and am not sure how the 2 whistles work.
Hi Chetna Could you just let me know how long you cooked your lentils for in the pressure cooker as you didn't finish your sentence at 1"30? Also what do you mean by: I did two whistles? Thanks for your response as I'd love to try your recipe.
Thanks Chetna 😎😃🙏🙏 I am thinking the base would be lovely in my dhansak, also I have Instant Pot electric pressure cooker so how long at high pressure would you think? Note: this cooker has changed my life as its so useful…. Stay safe 😜🍷🍷 Locked down Colin from Reading.
That’s such a helpful tip about the correct texture! It's been a few months since I've made dal, and I'd love to try adding in sugar snap peas. Thanks for all the cooking inspiration.
i love half-cooked lentils. They give me dreadful indigestion, but it's so hard not to eat half of them before they're done. I will definitely do this. I might do it on oats as well. Because obedience is not my middle name:)
Any guidance on using curry leaves for dals. I can get them at the grocery store and I think they taste amazing in dals but perhaps they should not be traditionally used in some dals.
Thank you SO much for the tip about the doneness and consistency of the dal. I always feel like I am guessing when I make a batch and now I know what to look for. Very very helpful!
How comforting on a cold damp Saturday afternoon, but what has happened to you plant? Can you please do some dishes with different pulses please . Thank you.
I love that you teach us how to cook like a home cook, not a restauranteur. Everything I’ve made from your channel or books has been wonderful. Thank you for your generosity.
It looks great Chetna! Thanks for the tip about cooking daal! Thanks! The live session on Sunday is exciting, what time? Maybe you could tell us some of your own favorite recipes?
That looks amazing just a quick question can I use red lentils or would that spoil the taste ? Am so hooked on watching your videos will definitely be here for your live broadcast.

This is the type of food that tastes even better on the next day.

Thank you for the pot instructions. I just don't have an interest in a pressure cooker. I truly do not mind cooking in a pot…it is all about timing.
Oh that looks good! I really need to stock up my spices and lentil storage!! thanks for all the amazing recipes 🙂
We absolutely love you, Chetna! Stay safe and sending positive vibes to you and your family!
Fab, may I suggest throw in some chick peas and or cauliflower (roast cauli in oven) yum…or even sweet potato 🙂
I love sugar snap peas and never would have thought about adding them. Looks delish

In less restricted times, what was your go-to take away in a pinch?
