My local Greek restaurant makes vegetarian dolmathes that they serve with their Greek salads and I LoVE them. I wanna try your Zucchini fritters ! 🇬🇷💙🧿
That line from My Big Fat Wedding has always cracked me up! I made your Moussaka today. Lots of work, but the results are delicious! Didn’t add the panko crumbs. So many flavors made it very complex and interesting. Loved it!
Don‘t be sad about the tough taste testers! Maybe they used a less good version of vegan meat. Also people might just be used to different flavors. My food used to be incredibly bland.
These are great recipes Nisha (as always). I'll be making all of this since I love Greek food — all of it looks wonderful! But, I'll give the vegan meat a miss. I'm not a fan of eating meats as a vegan. Many of us are vegans based on the principles of protecting animals, so mimicking meat eating seems counter intuitive to me. Your lentil and walnut sauce is fantastic, so I'll make the moussaka with that sauce. And, I'm loving your taste testers. I would volunteer but most of my week is spent caring for my 90 year old mother, so there's not much time for extra activities unfortunately. Am looking forward to a vegan Greek Christmas here in Sydney! You have solved my Christmas menu problem. Anything which can be prepared ahead, plus fresh salad and tzatziki, using my homemade vegan yoghurt sounds like a winner to me. I'd love to see some east Asian recipes eg: Thai and Vietnamese 😊 Edit to add: have ordered Nistisima by Georgina Hayden
Wow all look amazing… in my family we traditionally fry the eggplant and potatoes in mousaka and it it usually too heavy for the stomach.. i love your version will definitely try it even though i am not vegan.. Love from Cyprus 🇨🇾 ❤️
traditional greek cooking actually has a lot of lentan dish's which are vegan, greeks fast almost half the year and do not consume meat. the heavy meat thing is new, a bi product of both incresed animal agriculture and immigrating to richer countrys with heavier meat consumption.
I made the moussaka and it's delicious! I had to substitute shitake mushrooms for cremini since my store didn't have any, and I couldn't find the porcini mushroom powder, but it's still delicious! This is the third recipe of yours I've made and they are all fantastic! I'm trying Dal next week. I ordered fenugreek leaves but they don't arrive until Tuesday.
I made everything in this video and it was absolutely incredible. Your dishes are always by far the best across all the vegan chefs I watch. Thank you for always sharing your wonderful recipes and keep it up!
Nextmilk is a game changer in the plant basted milk department. Doesn’t empart that weird aftertaste. I use it to make my béchamel for the moussaka. I put a little bit of Berber (Ethiopian pepper spice)in the tomato sauce that adds an interesting kick.
Omg as a Greek I almost cried watching this 😭 I wish I could get this food here!! I was never a big fan of mousaka but this looks amazing! And I miss kolokythokeftedes and tzatziki 😍 Thank you for sharing these recipes and doing such an amazing job 🙏🇬🇷 💙
Actually, in Greece, they have a lot of vegan recipes and because they're very religious and the lent period you can find them almost everywhere all the time vegan options. And fun fact, the Vegan feta cheese you used is from a greek brand Violife, the biggest vegan cheese manufacturer in the world, we eat it all the time, and my kids absolutely love it.
I was excited about this dish until you used the fake meat. 1) it's not healthy (read up on what's in it and how it's processed), and 2) if I wanted to eat meat I'd eat meat. I'm vegan because I don't want to eat meat, making fake meat doesn't make that better.
You can easily eat vegetarian with only Greek food, the only problem is the cheese. I just loveee my Greek and especially Cretan cheeses, they keep me from making my traditional meals vegan
I make my Greek salad with red, yellow, or orange bell peppers. I’m not vegan but I sometimes abstain from meat for religious or economic reasons. I like these recipes so I’m subscribing to see more!
I absolutely love watching your videos! I come for the delicious recipes, but I stay for your personality! You are so goofy and funny, all around wholesome to watch hahaha. Just wanted to let you know that you're editing is so funny especially the violife feta cheese hoarding face you made xD. Anyways thanks for sharing such wonderful recipes with us! Can't wait to try! Also I really see your channel popping off, and I love how you get your community involved by trying the recipes, I think thats so unique and so helpful for us viewers.
Don’t beat yourself up about the criticism from Berlin. Some Areas of Germany have a saying that translates to something like „no criticism is praised enough“ 😂
I'm so happy to see the Australian Greeks featured in this video! Greek culture is so massively influential in Australian culture, and I grew up eating Greek food with my school friends.
I was so excited to even just see the recipes, but I'm really loving the feedback from people making the dishes at home! That was not only so helpful but wholesome as heck ;-; Really wonderful <3
A traditional Greek diet was 90% vegetable. Times were tough and meat was reserved for a special occasion such as a wedding, easter, or someone's nameday. Fish was more popular than meat for the island population. The abundance of meat nowadays has made it a staple in the daily diet
Which cuisine would you like to see veganized next? All recipes are linked in the description box!

Amazing recipes and actually so so close to the authentic Greek ones!! Thaaank you for such beautiful content!
Is the Vegan VioLife Feta equivalent to the Trader Joe's vegan feta?

Hi I'm Greek. Next time you cook you should try the Greek measuring method called "with the eye"
I love that you despise green bell peppers as much as I do 😂

My goodness this looks so gooooddddddd, I'm Greek so I'm so happy to see this video!!!
do you have a link for the apron you’re wearing? thank you.
We put 2 layers of eggplant and potatoes!
Ohhh Violive feta is the best 😋😋😋
Is red wine vegan used in the recipe?

Excited to try the moussaka! Thank you. Anyone have any ideas for substitutes for the nutritional yeast? I have an intolerance (sad).
I always add 1 yellow bell pepper and 1 orange bell pepper to make my Greek salad extra beautiful and colorful 😋
Couldn't you TRY to be just a LITTLE less adorable? Yeesh. Aside from that I love everything about this.
Meat meat 😂❤
Dont forget to remove the bay leaf ya'll : )

Really inspirational recipes, and it was great to have the taste testers thoughts, soo inclusive. Thank you so much
