What was the cheese sauce made out of? I can't tell.
BTW, I'm not sure why people would think that vegan keto is unhealthy, as long as you're getting enough nutrients and protein. What IS really unhealthy is chronic inflammation, because that is the precursor for all kinds of diseases, as well as pain. Regular keto is known to majorly reduce inflammation (even with all the meat. gak!) and regular vegan is supposed to also reduce inflammation (though it makes me ravenously hungry, because of all the carbs), so putting them together is kind of brilliant for majorly reducing inflammation, at least for some people. I personally need to eat animal products, because I develop deficiencies, otherwise. However, even eating meat once-a-day seems to have become too much for me, so I am having to look at other approaches. Eggs and cheese don't seem to bother my system nearly as much. If I try to do keto without leaning into plant-based alternatives, I end up eating WAY too much animal, by default. Anyway, although I'm doing this for different reasons than you (I do want to lose weight), and with different methods, I hope to have similar success with reducing inflammation. And I'm glad that you're highlighting a different reason to do it, than just weight loss. Blessings!
Hi, Mary! I love your verve…your spicy personality and your "I do what I want attitude" đ I wanted to share a few things that have helped me, in response to some of your struggles. 1. I also have a hard time with coffee. Even decaf. So, I brew chicory, instead. It has NO caffeine, it's actually used to enhance the flavor of coffee, sometimes, because it's really rich. It's full-bodied and bitter, like coffee. I mix mine with unsweetened soy milk. 2. I'm sorry to hear about the chronic tendonitis! I wonder if you're getting enough silica? I had tendonitis in my ankle, recently, and realized that I had become deficient in silica, which is a substance that's really important for our bodies to heal and which nobody seems to know about, so I'm spreading the word. And yes, you should be able to pet your cats all you want! Also, I brew elderberry tea to reduce inflammation. I highly recommend trying that. It has many other health benefits, as well, such as staving off viruses and other pathogens. You'll probably want to add some flavor, because it's quite bland. I sometimes use a few clove buds or some ginger and lemon. 3. There's a cashew based bleu "cheese" which might be really lovely with your salad. It's from a company called "Nuts for Cheese". Thanks for the video and I really enjoyed seeing the soy curls! Also, I had never thought of using fried tofu as a base for avocado toast. Your vegan fried rice looks amazing, too! Blessings!
i dont think you are awkward on camera at all. actually you speak very clear.
How long does it take to see a difference??
I really enjoyed this video. I also have inflammation and it impacts my hands and arms. Some days, so painful I canât even lift a bag, steer my car properly or pet my cats. That pain is debilitating.
A year ago, I switched to plant based and Iâve had zero pain since. Only took about 3 days to notice the pain significantly decreased.
Now doing a similar version of keto vegan as yourself. Not fussed over numbers either and just want to maintain a healthy plant based lifestyle to keep the pain away, but also have always loved the idea behind keto. It was actually recommended to me my medical team about 5 years ago (to manage weight. I have since had gastric sleeve 4 years ago)
This is really helpful and excited to watch your other plant based videos now. Thank you for sharing your journey and beautiful food.
The only thing I will never understand is how people can east JUST egg without adding kala namak. Like, the stuff does NOT taste anything like eggs without it!!!
It's strange how a lot of people online are really combative against the idea that someone can be both keto and vegan. I used to be WFPB for five years and liked it, but I tried keto vegan a little and I have loved it so far. Eco-atkins (vegan low-carb) actually out-performed a high-carb vegetarian diet in a study a couple years ago looking at health measures, but I don't do it for health. I just love how my food tastes this way.Â
My diet focuses around tofu scrambles with lots of greens and low-carb green juices, so I'm consuming a ton more veggies than I was before. I'm discovering foods with low net carbs and high soluble fiber, so even my fiber intake hasn't taken a huge hit, and the increased supplement intake seems to be helping me get sick less often. Even keto sweetners out there help me with when I occasionally feel like switching things up. I look better than I've looked in quite a while, and I find that I have a little more energy.
The main thing with the health of any diet is what your blood work shows. If your LDL, triglycerides, blood pressure, and blood glucose are low (heart-attack proof even), and you enjoy what you eat enough for it to be sustainable (both to yourself and to the planet), then the macros and the ingredients you used to get there don't matter. With people's various lifestyle differences and genetic variations, one person may be able to achieve results like that only on a high-carb diet, and another might only be able to achieve it on a low-carb diet.Â
There's no reason to be at each other's necks. I appreciate this channel and Heavenly Fan too.
I was a massage therapist for years. I don't know if this will help with something chronic, but the carpal nerve is connected to stuff in your shoulder blad area (path). If you find a good therapist who knows about that stuff (usually working for a chiropractor), they can work on that area for you. It always worked really well for my clients. Just a thought.
She eats allot of processed tofu! Maybe you need to eat less!
I had a stroke which has affected my left hand/arm/shoulder mostly. Doing anything with both of my hands together (like tying shoes or a lot of cooking tasks) is exhausting. I was a vegan chef before the stroke, so not being able to cook and prep, like I used to, is annoying. As you know, when your hands don't work, it limits a lot of things. I"m glad you figured out a way to help get your tendonitis under control.
Love Bob Ross..
Soy is toxic! Itâs an allergen and needs to be avoided for health! Itâs a manmade blob of crap! Eat whole foods, itâs our nature!
Thank you Mary â€â€â€â€ BC Canada
Hi Mary! Is there a special code for the free items with the first purchase of Athletic Greens? I am only seeing it offered with subscriptions. Thanks!! Love your Videos!!
Bob Ross!!! Some of those are my favorites.
I think the âdangerâ of keto is heart disease/ cholesterol. However donât think that applies to vegan keto. Its very clear keto and super high fat simply kills you long term. Again, doesnt apply to vegan âketoâ.
Iâm not even sure âvegan ketoâ is keto, or capable of producing ketosis.
Hi Mary: Do you have a link for that non-stick pan?
I am absolutely going to be trying your tofu avocado toast. Looks amazing!!!!!!
Great and entertaining video. Youâre very funny and have likable personalityđâ€
I am vegan (7yrs) and I think if youâre going to do ketoâŠvegan is the way to go! Even though Dr. Kim Williams (past President of the American College of cardiology and plant-based diet doctor) stated that vegan keto was the only keto diet that was actually beneficial to health. Thatâs what heâs seen in practice and in the literature.
Love your channel! đ«¶đ„
Keep doing you!! đ
Nailed it
More power to you Mary and more vegan keto recipes please. Glad you've found a way to manage your tendonitis problems btw.
Mary can you tell what are your macros on carbs, protein and fat?
I love your content!!
Hi Mary! Check out Heavenly Fan. She has been Vegan Keto for about 4 years. Also, The Diet Doctors channel touches on doing Vegan Keto. Then, there is Dr Eric Berg, and Dr Sten Ekberg. I'm sure there are more for any of your viewers that are interested. Thank you for sharing today Mary.
MAKE SURE U DRINK ENOUGH WATER N ENOUGH FAT. LOVE VIDEO
HOW LONG CAN U LEAVE THE EXTRA TOFU IN THE FRIG?
I'm watching your video to get an idea what to eat. Last month, I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes. I stopped eating rice, bread, pasta, sugary drinks, processed food and fast food. I recently got a blood test and uric acid is high, need to avoid eating red meat and seafood. I don't know what to eat anymore, I don't want to eat rice or bread cause I'm avoiding blood sugar spike.
How come you are overweight when youâre eating vegan and Quito, there must be something wrong
eeeeeh! thank you for this video!
I dont like it when people make side comments like âyou are too vain, too conscious about your figure, life is short, eat yummy foodâ be kind guys some people are fighting silent battles and changing their lifestyle and diet is their only hope bcoz sometimes medicine doesnât work and it makes things even worse. I know someone who is also very strict with her diet bcoz her dad had cancer and she knows how debilitating the disease is, and she doesnât want to have cancer and pass it on to her future children.
