While plant-based sources of protein are always beneficial, making sure you’re getting a complete source of protein (a protein that has nine essential amino acids) is vital since our body cannot make it on its own and it must be added through our diet.
There are many variations of plant-based foods that can be combines to form a complete protein:
- Beans and nuts/seeds
- Nut butter and bread
- Hummus and bread
- Bean chili and crackers
- Refried beans and tortillas
- Lentils and rice
- Peas and pasta
