Ok I know I'm a bit late on commenting on this video but I LOVED THIS VIDEO! I'm getting my MSc in Environmental Studies where I've worked closely with the fishing industry and I've also worked as a teaching assistant for a course talking about our current food system and the environment from social, ecological, and political lenses. I've also just started a job working on fisheries sustainability projects, so this video was right up my alley!
Things can get complicated really quickly when it comes to the sustainability of our food choices! You've got it right: the best things to do are to eat local and plant based where you can and do what's within your budget and what is available to you. Luckily you live in Vancouver, so you're totally right that local sources of seafood are available to you! If you'd like to try cooking your own, often times fishers will be on the fishermen's wharves selling their fresh catch to folks directly. 🙂 And in my experience, they're more than happy to chat with you about their harvesting practices if you're curious!
If you wanted to explore this topic further, I'm happy to chat or see if I can connect you to some colleagues of mine. 🙂 I've been loving your content lately, you've been inspirational to my running journey!
Also compost pro tip: If you have space, put it in your freezer! That way you don't attract fruit flies etc. I learned this from an aquarium that I used to volunteer for, and as you can imagine their compost was very stinky haha.
Sadly, flying is terrible for the environment.
If you put your compost in the freezer after you cook it won’t attract bugs, won’t smell funky & wont be as messy as having a lil compost bin on your countertop. Love this video, super interesting & now I want to do some of my own research. As a person that’s struggled with binge eating I try not to have too many food rules, but being more climate conscious about what I eat feels like something I can do. Thanks for such a thought provoking video!
they're passionate because these things are basically a cult. how do I know this? because you try arguing with any of them (either side – vegan or carnivore) and everyone gives the same canned responses. if that doesn't scream cult, I don't know what does.
honestly, this video this is one of my favourite videos by you it was so beautifully made and had such a powerful message loved it <333 xxx
The meat eaters are right, going vegan won't save the planet alone, and its not going to eliminate 100% of your carbon footprint of eating meat, just about 90% of it! something not being 100% good doesn't make it 100% bad
I really appreciate you making this video and I think you’ve shown lots of really basic (as in, foundational) things everyone can easily implement. Just my two cents on the whole vegan food bit: no matter how much packaging vegan convenience foods come in, it’s the same amount of plastic etc. for meat. But vegan food still has a significantly lower environmental impact. Also, I think it’s great that you’re really reflecting and questioning all the info we get from different directions (most people don’t and that’s incredibly problematic and dangerous really). But remember that the main motivation of most vegans is compassion, whereas – from a perfectly neutral point of view, I’d like to add – ‘carnism’ is based on selfishness and egocentrism: Apart from the unfathomable suffering it causes billions of animals, the meat industry is scientifically proven to be extremely bad for the environment (emissions, water pollution, deforestation, etc.), it exploits workers (low wages), it violates human rights (forceful removal if not genocide of indigenous peoples in the Amazon at literal gunpoint, all in order to clear land for the cultivation of animal feed for Europe, the U.S., etc.). Yet unreflective meat eaters don’t deem any of this anywhere near as important as satisfying their own personal wants. I get that people may be wary of the message of a documentary like Seaspiracy if the producers run a mock seafood business (didn’t know about it personally). However, every little horrible detail of animal agriculture you may have heard of is unfortunately not an exaggeration in order to sell you something. Independent (i.e. not the big food corporations like Nestlé) are here to provide alternatives and drive change and not simply profit from it (like Nestlé, Kraft, etc.).
DO A HAIR UPDATE. it’s been 2 years since you got your extensions out and now it looks so amazing. how did you do it
plant foods are catabolic (break us down). animal foods are anabolic (build us up). Beef, egg yolk, and whole raw goat milk including butter are packed with nutrition and are easily digestible. There is virtually 0 nutrition in plants and they are really hard to digest. the choice is clear.
OMG I never thought you'd say my name! hahaha <3
I love this video, great tips and nice approach to working one oneself 👌
Hard to believe you’re 31. You look mid 40s. What ever you’re doing isn’t working!
"the television told me that if we eat less cows the weather will be gooder"
Just wow – this is hopeless.
Noy sure if youre being paid to say this or you actually are blind to the agenda behind this anti human movement
What do you do with the compost after putting it in the compost bowl?
My mom has a friend with pigs so we always have a pig bag.
Saving environment by travelling for fun?🤔🤣👎 Maybe by plane? Wow!

You cant survive on a vegan diet alone, you need supplements or you will die. Thats why vegans always look like chemo patients. You can not only live on animals, you thrive."When I watched those movies, they affected my entire diet" That doesnt make you aware, it makes your mind malleable. At this point just eat what you want. Ignore the propaganda. You're already in your 30's, and so your life is going to go exponentially quicker. The climate cultists are the most easily brainwashed group of people in the world, and they would sacrifice you and your family in an instant if they believed it would "help duh earf".
Those documentaries are not real. The goal is to take away all foods that will make the masses strong and healthy, because a sick and weak population is easier to rule (this is why slaves were only allowed to eat rice, bread, or potatoes)
But the most important part of taking away your humanity is tricking you into believing this is what you wanted and that you in any way had a say in the matter. The funny part is they don’t have to take much by force, they know nobody likes to be told what to do or think, so they give you options; but they are presented to you in a biased/fabricated way that is intended to guarantee the majority will willingly choose exactly what they wanted them to
Hey, Goatis just released a video about you,
Have you seen it?
Hahaha making drought beer one of the tips is such a keltie thing to do but still so accurate! Love it 😂
a swap for the ziploc you used when travelling….Stashers or some other brand of silicone food storage…dishwasher and microwave safe, totally reusable. I am an athlete and coach and travel a lot too, these are a game changer if you need to haul snacks or items that may leak! There are different brands at different budget points, but I highly recommend them! I also used to reuse ziplocs and its been an easy switch!
Hadn't watched this channel in awhile and it got tossed in my recommends. I've always heard (and seen enough examples to believe it) that eating high carbs and vegan diets lead to excelerated aging. You went from looking like you were in your 20s to in your 40s in like a year and a half.
