This is an outstanding analysis of the fasting lifestyle. I’m new to prolonged fasting and this is information is extremely helpful, especially regarding fasting windows impact on glucose utilization and fat loss. This is best explanation I’ve found so far. Love how Thomas use research studies to tell us what’s happening too.😎💯❤️

I do 18:6 everyday since 1st of February this year and I have lost 7 kilos plus keto diet, I stop eating at 5 o’clock pm until 9 o’clock am and I feel lighter than ever my original weight was 95 kilos and now I’m 88 and never ever I will go back to those ugly kilos again.

OMAD every day works best for me. I have tried all other forms of fasting, but my best results have come from OMAD…

Been on a Fat loss journey for the 4-5 months and still in route. I was severely INSULIN resistant, which negated my progress and efforts. I just happen to stumble upon the information of WHY weight loss and high insulin in blood (due to high sugar in blood from diet) don't mix. I was in the gym 4-5x a week, doing HIIIT trainings, weights, cardio and just couldn't consistently lose weight. I'd workout hard for and lose 3- 5lbs, then gain right back on the weekends. It was a yoyo roller coaster ride. Then I changed my diet consumption to 90% Cruciferous vegetables, ALMOST no added sugar, no carbs, drink only water and started to break pass those weight loss barriers. I still was yoying from time to time, as my body was TRYING to get back those lost calories and craving the sugar Then the breakthrough happened, once I started INTERMITTENT Fasting with the better diet. I toggled from 16:8 to 12:12 and even 14:10 7 days for 2 weeks straight. It was a challenge to resist the urge to eat (due to feeling starved) but eventually the body learns to not cry out for you to EAT and the body then goes and burns it's own fat storage, which is the end goal aiding fat loss. No more of those cravings for sugar or snacks, and I EAT consume far less food now, and not so hungry when I break-fast in the morning or right after the gym. My energy level is better NOW, since my body has transitioned to a better food source and lower food consumption cycles from fasting. Literally, it's like experience with drawls but you have to fight through it. My belly visceral fat has shrunk significantly so I look less rounder in my clothes and more leaner, skin clearer, bowls are more regular, and face less round. The intermittent fasting, coupled with no sugar diet, cured the INSULIN resistance which then allowed me to lose the weight. 20 more lbs to go!

I downloaded the Zero app to help me keep track of my fasting . I started with 13 hours and now I’m up to 18 hours. I will definitely do the 24 hours. Doing the fasting has helped me in so many ways. Thank you for sharing.

I automatically do burst fasting. I fast when I can, and if social life calls for a break then I just let it be. I am integrating fasting in my life and let not dictate it.

Actually, people need to experiment. Nothing works universally for everyone. I practice intermittent fasting. I fast every other day. It works for me.

I do a weekly 36 hour fast. I've been doing this for almost a year now and I have seen consistent results. I like it!

Everything seems linked to losing weight. I just want to get the health benefits of IF. I've been doing 18/6 monday to friday and 16/8 on weekends.
I don't want to lose weight. Should I change anything? Is there something I am missing by not doing more extended fasts?

This is too much. I do OMAD half of the time because I’m able to & like the benefits. The other half of the time, I don’t.

Very helpful but one thing I didn’t get. As you were going through things, first, the 36 hour fast once a week seem to come through very well. But then it wasn’t one of the top options at the end. I don’t understand why.

I have done OMAD since New Year’s Eve, so two months. Alongside my weight training and cardio exercise I’ve lost 12kgs! I have never had such amazing results!

Been doing 16:8 since 2010, two meals a day. Works great for me. It’s easy to get lost in all this new fasting info.

The definition of insanity is claiming Einstein said that was the definition of insanity. Or claiming that is the definition of insanity.

“It’s not the best anymore” is an inherently unscientific statement. There is no objective “best” and if there was, it wouldn’t change. It would be static. Clickbait trash.

TODAY is O.M.A.D. #334 — All calories eaten within a '2 hour window' … so minimum 22 hour fast … right now as i'm typing… 26 1/2 hour fast … plus caloric restriction (very seldom above 1,500 calories – usually much less) — I've lost about 60 pounds … Sooooooooooo easy! I each (cauliflower crust) pizza … potatoes… fruit … nuts … dairy … meat … LOTS of veggies … My back stiffness? GONE. …. plus many other benefits… i still need to lose another 30 pounds… my metabolism has SLOWED DOWN — despite what deLauer saying it should be SPEEDING-up! … bummmmmmmmmmmer

I do 16:8 IF Mon-Fri and a 48-hour fast Fri-Sun. I have my cheat meal on Sunday after I have eaten something first, to ease back into eating (chicken broth, high fiber content, etc.). For me, 16:8 or 18:6 does nothing for me, but the Tuesday after my 48-hour fast shows 3-6 pounds lost. That is 3-6 pounds lost since my last post fast weight (the day or two after my last 48 hour fast or basically, the lowest weight during that week). I can still do cardio and weight resistance training throughout the week, except during my 48-hour fast, where I only do 3 miles of biking per day.

Maybe I won't do a 48 hour fast this weekend. Maybe I should do 3 weekends of fasting, and take one week off. Trick my body.
