Vocabulary from the Video BBC news review "Vegan diet protects men from cancer":
– Bowel (n) – a part of the digestive system that is below the stomach; the intestines. a bowel cancer.
– A plant-based diet. A plant-based diet reduces the risk of developing bowel cancer.
– To reduce your chance of getting something.
1) a catch (n) – something sounds great or perfect but there is a hidden problem. A trick or problem. Exp: There is a catch in this question. A catch is an informal way of saying there is an issue or a problem.
2) rich in (adj) – having or containing a lot of something. Exp: Oranges and lemons are rich in Vitamin C. London is a city that is rich in history and culture. Vietnam is a country that is rich in agricultural products. Rich can be used as Suffix such as a vegetable-rich diet; or a protein-rich meal. Or rich with a kind of food that contains much fat, cream, calories… make you feel a bit sick.
3) Going vegan – becoming vegan or changing to vegan to describe people who don't use or eat animal products. Exp: Going vegetable – becoming vegetable – to change your diet to eat vegetables instead of eating meat. Going gluten-free or going sugar-free; going crazy or going wrong.
There is a catch that the change of diet could help you from cancer. Because a plant-based diet that is rich in vegetables could only reduce the risk of developing bowel cancer for men. Therefore if you are a woman, you could choose to go vegan or not.

Sian, are you okay? I'm so worried about you.
Vegan diet is really helpful for men. According to the USA research, but there is it a main thing it does not give them any benefits to women.
It's true that most men should lower their protein consumption BUT maybe it can avoid cancer a vegan diet but not other consequences that it can have in men.
Thanx for the effort, it is really helpful
but there is a little problem could u fix it please?
when I go to the website to download the audio and the PDF file for this video, I always ended up downloading the wrong audio and pdf file, it belongs for another video!!
could you just switch it and put the right audio and pdf file
Hope you fast recovery Sian
I'm really sorry if my language sounds a little disrespectful or something, may apologies
I'm trying my best
Not 'vegan diet', it's vegetables and fibres! It's amusing to see how words can be used to insinuate moral overtones
Consuming cruciferous vegetables is indeed reducing the risk of getting bowel cancer but not all vegan food is soya is a kind of a risk to men over consuming tofus is risk to testosterone levels I had literally protein deficiency for years from being vegan ;eat local organic produce not really vegan still I ate seafood local produced poultry & reducing cattle or swine meats which is very high in animal fat, triglycerides & cholesterol
such a lovely episode, thx
And produces malnutrition.

Sorry I couldn't bring myself to watch this. Sian is clearly not 100%. She should've been at home resting, not being dragged to the studio.
⛄ There's something fishy! Why is this watch inexpensive? There must be a catch!
⛄ Egypt is a country that is rich in monuments.
⛄ Many Arab actresses are going vegan because of health benefits.
Sian , I really like your lesson but It was really hard to watch this one. Hearing you today with this hoarseness makes me feel pain. Go to bed and get well.
Oh my godness!!! In this programme Sian might catch a flu because of her weird voice. Hopefully she'll get better soon. By the way, a diet rich in vegetables, whole grains and beans would be a perfect therapy for her.
Eat the bugs. Live in a pod. Be a vegan. Own nothing. Wear a mask. Be happy.
Nice topic
