Can you please take off the mirror behind the person being interviewed, when they express with their arms , it can be seen in the mirror and is distracting, looks like a random person before you work out itâs just a reflection.
And then there is the elephant in the room: Alcohol.
What is the one food? Long winded with no reference to topic
Can do without the curse words. Thank you 16:22
Wow what a true side of eating. We are led around to buy this and really it only provides a financial accomplishment to the business at the risk of users. Ie high fructose corn syrup in lots of food. Check your labels
Check out Shawn Baker MD and Anthony Chaffee MD.
Vegan diet causing depression? Yeah I don't believe that vegan people are healthy and healthy people are happy people.
I find the term expert in the title to be off the mark. I have nothing personal against the guy who seems very nice but aside from many accurate points about processed foods, he demonstrates either a lack of knowledge or unconscious or purposeful bias in the plant vs animal / keto sections.
There is value in looking at consensus opinions in science, especially when it is based upon many years of research. If one doesn't agree with the bulk of scientific opinion, then that has to be good evidence for reasoning behind going against the grain which is certainly not the case here. Just mentioning one aspect of 1-2 studies is not conclusive for overturning consensus.
Some the issues I have:
The case of his mother, whilst unfortunate and traumatising for him, is nonetheless an anecdote. We have no further information about her lifestyle. 70% of the population globally are lactose intolerant and vegetarians can be very unhealthy and eat way too much saturated fat /sugar. So "no meat diet didn't protect her" is a meaningless the statement unless he provides sufficient evidence to the contrary.
"people should eat some meat"
That contradicts what the biggest dietetics Association in the world and some others publicly state, i.e. that plant-based nutrition if appropriately done is sufficient at all stages of life and can I have significant health benefits.
All of our nutrients can be met with plant-based diets. Why is somebody with a marginal opinion – with all due respect – who is not even formally educated in nutrition being labelled as an expert when there is no sound reasoning for being marginal?
"it's the only diet that changes the biochemistry of the brain"
Again, where is the bulk scientific opinion on this?
If you look it up plant-based diet and dementia and Alzheimer's on PubMed you will find quite a few studies that point towards the positive effects rather than negative effects.
"eating fish is associated with reduced risk of dementia"
Omega 3s are essential for cognitive health. Because we eat a lot of omega rich oils in the modern diet, we have to up our omega 3s of which there are three kinds: ALA (" land-based" short-chain available in e.g. Chia seeds, linseed, hemp seeds, walnuts) and EPA and DHA (Long chain which the body can produce but it is not yet clear whether we can produce enough, at least with the above diet). The long chains but otherwise found in marine sources, but originating from algae. Omega 6:3 should not be more than about 3:1 for optimal health
Sea-fish are increasingly polluted by heavy metals (such toxins are also a risk factor for Parkinson's and Alzheimer's) and micro plastics, and the fishing industry is exterminating sea-life and causing huge amounts of suffering which should be a wake up call to use unpolluted algae oil instead (that is where fish originally get their Long chain omega 3s from).

Keto
He failed to mention the lack of long-term studies on Keto and associated risks long-term that numerous Studies emphasise. This includes possible kidney damage, even the generation of cognitive ability, cardiovascular problems…. see pubmed
He mentioned the UK biobank study.
Here some conclusions from same:
"Adherence to healthy plant-based dietary patterns significantly attenuated risks of cardiovascular abnormalities for people at genetically higher risk of obesity."
Here are some comments from Oxford University NDPH looking at a range of studies, including the biobank study (title: are-plant-based-diets-good-for-your-health-and-the-planet):
"The strongest association found so far between diet and cancer risk is for bowel cancer (also known as colorectal cancer), which kills over 16,000 people in the UK every year. Using data from the UK Biobank, NDPH researchers found that people who ate red and processed meat at least seven times a week were 40% more likely to get bowel cancer compared with those who ate meat once a week or less. Of the half a million participants in the study, 3 in 1,000 people who ate meat every day developed bowel cancer compared with 2 in 1,000 of those who ate meat no more than once a week. In a follow-up analysis, the researchers concluded that even those who ate moderate amounts of red meat (76g a day, in line with UK Government recommendations), still had a 20% higher chance of developing bowel cancer than those who only ate on average 21g a day.
The reasons for this increased risk are not fully understood, but they may involve naturally-occurring chemicals in red meat (such as heterocyclic amines) and preservatives found in processed meats (for instance, sodium nitrite). These can cause N-nitroso compounds to form, which can induce mutations in intestinal cells. The process of cooking meat can also result in the formation of chemicals called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic amines, which are thought to be carcinogenic."
"The burden of meat consumption on healthcare systems
Based on these apparent associations between red/processed meat and bowel cancer, CHD and diabetes, NDPH researchers made estimates that quantified the cost that excess meat consumption places on healthcare systems. They estimated that, in 2020, perhaps 2.4 million deaths worldwide and US $285 billion in healthcare costs might have been caused by excess red and processed meat consumption. The researchers then quantified the extent to which red/processed meat would need to be taxed in 149 world regions to offset these increased healthcare costs. In high-income countries, they concluded that red meat would need to be 20% more expensive than current levels, and processed meat would have to more than double in price to cover the healthcare costs associated with their consumption. Ultimately, by encouraging reduced consumption of red and processed meat, they estimated that such a âhealth levyâ could prevent more than 220,000 deaths and save over $40 billion in US healthcare costs every year.
Other diseases
The costs of meat-heavy diets could be even higher, since evidence is emerging that vegetarian/vegan diets may protect against other diseases and conditions. An NDPH analysis of the EPIC-Oxford study found that the risk of diverticular disease was 31% lower in vegetarians and 72% lower in vegans, compared with meat eaters: this remained significant even when adjusted for fibre consumption (which protects against diverticular disease). In addition, vegetarians and vegans had a lower risk of eye cataract compared with meat eaters, with the risk progressively decreasing with smaller meat intakes. Vegetarians also had a 31% lower risk of kidney stones compared with those who ate a diet high in meat."
etc
Choline
– can be found in some plants and it is also produced by the body.
Alzheimer's
"the more animal products are consumed, the lower the risk of dementia"
In contrast to this, a 2022 review in the International Journal of molecular sciences (MDPI) stated the following:
"The data available to date do not allow an assessment of whether strict veganism is
beneficial for brain health or AD risk compared with vegetarianism or diets with occasional
meat consumption. Increasing plant-based foods may positively affect cognitive health
and perhaps prevent AD. However, it is difficult to find evidence of the effects of a strictly
vegan diet on cognition. Plant-based diets have a more extensive body of research that
indicates protective effects on brain health. Further, it is unclear if the beneficial health
effects are due to the avoidance of harmful effects associated with excessive calories and
meat consumption, the specific dietary nutrients and bioactive compounds found in plants,
or a combination of both. Randomized controlled trials and prospective cohort studies
comparing veganism to other popular diets are scarce. The evidence provided in this review
indicates that the net effect of a vegan diet on AD prevention and/or progression should
be ascertained by taking into account all the positive and negative effects described here. It
is advised that future studies on a vegan diet in AD should include supplementation with
specific micronutrients to optimize any positive effects."
"sponsored by people you have a dog in the fight"
Considering that vegans currently are only max 2/3 % of the population in some richer "Developed" countries, and the rest are not willing to give up animal products, who is likely to have the most money to fund and manipulate studies? Animal agriculture and associated industries or a vegan mafia? Note, the rise in veganism has only become notable in the last 10 or so years and there were plenty of studies before that.
"if you look at the literature you can find a study to back up anything you want to say"
That's why we look to consensus and bear in mind conflicts of interest.
If you follow the money you will see that the largest industries have more influence on science so if we have a statement from the biggest dietetics organisation in the world that points towards significant health benefits of vegan diets if done properly, the chances are that they are even more likely to play down such benefits if anything, because of the lobbyist influence of the large and powerful meat, dairy and egg and pharma industries. Especially so in the United States which is the capital and lobbyism.
If this manâs mother had a neuro degenerative disease it is unlikely that most doctors would have been able to diagnose what she had and since it was a neuro-degenerative disease we still have very few things or medicines to treat them. Food is unlikely to have helped or to have caused it. ALS which killed Lou Gehrig, a great athlete, is also neuro-degenerative and we still have no cure for that.
How can you go against the council of the God who designed, formed shaped and sculptured you.
Meat that was produced 50 years ago and more were not produced the same way they are produced today with the addition of hormones and grain â not grass. The very nature of what we ingest is not the same as the food eaten 100 years ago or more. With all due respect, anything we eat today is of questionable nutritional value. If we live longer as a society a lot of it is due to better medicine â not simply our food.
another clown promoting animal products to the detriment all that are gullable enough to buy into this garbage. all he really wants is for you to buy his unfounded bs book so he can get rich selling poor advice.
The audio here is very low. I see great audio equipment but I have to put volume on my phone to the max. Just fyi, sorry
great guy

Is the occurrence of dementia lower in Finland because of the sauna culture?
If you care about your sleep and recovery (which you should) the keto diet sucks. If you like it tho, make sure you consume your carbs in the late evening so it doesnât effect sleep quality
So is the ultra processed huel out the window now then.
The meat industry in itself is inhumane. However, this is due to the planet being infested with humans. I agree that meat should be eaten, and it's the fact that there are so many of us on the planet that it leads to mass execution of animals, which is hard to accept and agree with.
Love listening to these podcasts, especially the food related ones, I think itâs true that there is not one specific answer, especially as they seem to contradict each other a lot. Here, heâs talking about red meat along with healthy foods should be good for you, but it resulted in my father getting diabetes and having a heart attack, back then he did not consume any processed food. Personally I think being of South Asian origin where our ancestors ate very little meat may have had contributed to it as well as other factors such as stress.
Another Brilliant interview on many levels, thankyou.
I really enjoyed this and I have seen your face around but didnt know why. I watched in between work so it took a while to get through but its something i might well come back to for some useful info. Thanks for the great viewing and what a wonderful guest. Ill be watching other episodes.
Tip: Nothing worth listening to for a health and nutrition audience after 1hr 34 at which point the American guest starts drivelling about his therapy and his relationship with his mother.
Absolutely fascinating points of view. Loved this interview â€
This shit head must have killed meat at some time in her life

YOUTUBE MILLION PLUS VIEWS VIDEO CALLED SUGAR: THE BITTER TRUTH

Canadian Vanlifers YouTubers Eamon and Bec are vegans and sell a vegan cookbook. She got Stage 4 breast cancer before age 30 years old & even before getting married nor having babies.
I have being a vegetarian for almost 10 years, and I got depression during some time in that period, but I also know that is highly genetic in my family a variety of mental illnesses, so idk how much influence has my diet on me. If I base my diet on blood type, I am very well by being veggie, but at the end my main reason is the environment, so, I always struggle with what is more important, my body (being selfish) or to lower the CO2? at the end I just need to fully test my self to know what is really god for me haha
It's impossible to have a keto diet if you're an athlete.
Carnivore works for me .
Update on erythritol: probably bad for you
What about true sourdough bread made from my starter?
Max has great ideas. This interviewer…not so much. "Why do you do what you do and what do you do?" Really? DOAC…what a lazy question!
Excellent. Loved the honesty and sincerity with this guest.
My vegan friend died in her mid-sixties, after many years of chronic DVTs and blood disorders. She refused to see how her deficient diet contributed to her low health.
As soon as I wake up I need a poo been like that since I was 12 and now 39
Great!! I wanna die! A$ap!đđđ
I don't go to sweet things I go too weed
So, what is THE food that is killing us?
This guy ,, talks like he is guessing ,,, lota about nothing ,,
I'm a sugar addict, in the truest sense. I was young , skinny, beautiful & was "getting away with it ", eating family size block of chocolate daily for 20 years. Friends jealous, I never put on weight. Heart problems now, calcium score 212, in the L a d. Still addicted sugar. I'm ashamed.
In Taiwan. I saw a old man in mountain.
He is strong and jacked. He told me he smokes and drink alcohol everyday.Nothing special
Yes Vegan is hard to do healthy. Blue zones on this planet have the best diets. Plantain is great for breakfast with eggs with rice and beans.
People always accumulate toxins of every kind with time. Theyâre hurt by multiple people and that makes them withdrawal fro, life more as they age. The rose-colored glasses are shattered by the reality of the sinister world of politics, media and education. Some people are genetically unable to detox bio toxins (like mold, fungi etc) and other ge Eric mutations hinder detox pathways ( MTHFR). For some itâs a great struggle just to maintain average health , even with disciplined sauna use, fasting , carnivore woe, exercise, su exposure, grounding etc
My mother is 94 and has diabetes, heart disease, ever increasing dementia, 11% kidney function … can barely move and is totally dependent on her kids and caregivers to survive, but she loves her Doctors and her many medications. That is her choice … Not going to be mine. I will do what I can to live well … not necessarily long.
Sugar is no different than cocaine
You should have Dr Jason Fung on !! Especially if youâre interested in fasting
