I talked to a cardiologist, and he said keto diet is bad on the heart long-term. I'm considering doing the mediterranean diet since that is what he recommended.
I, personally, would lose my mind on any diet that didn't allow/stress the consumption of fruits and vegetables

I thought that you could bring avocado into a Keto Diet since avocados are high in fat and Keto is a high fat centric diet that's mostly used to treat people with cerebral palsy in the 1930s.

while this is interesting I feel it should be explored further. Keto is marketed as a weight loss tool but I don't believe that's what it's really for. there are books by other doctors and nutritionists that advocate for a higher fat and protein intakes are better for brain and body health. humans developed over millions of years and for much of that time, food was scarce and not as available as it is now. as such the body adapted to live in scarcity. food has only been easily available for around for a couple hundred years, not enough time to change the natural systems of the body, like the chemical reward we get for consuming something sweet. originally a mechanism to help one put on weight as sugar was rare in the past, now its everywhere and most can't stop eating it. maybe keto is not the way but the "balanced" diet that is often suggested is mostly carbohydrates and really has no balance. perhaps somewhere between keto and paleo is the way.
You also have to taper off keto for two to four weeks.

I've been doing keto on and off for around 10 years, and my understanding was always that you don't necessarily need 75% of your calories from fat. You just need to limit your net carb/sugar intake to around 20-30g per day, hit a protein goal appropriate for your body, and eat however much fat is necessary for satiation.

My dad is 54 and has been doing keto for years. He’s lost probably 15 lbs and just feels better overall on keto. Carbs don’t agree with him digestively anymore.

Edit: once you're actually in ketosis, you aren't supposed to be hungry anymore and that is actually one of the better parts of keto.
