Correction: raw vegan, fruitarian etc are diets, but vegan is a lifestyle choice, using the word vegan for diets is very vague word which could be anything that doesn't involve animal parts, it's not just in diets, but it's also in clothing, entertainment etc.
According to the multiple peer reviewed scientific data, "WELL PLANNED PLANT BASED DIET IS FIT FOR ALL STAGES OF LIFE"
I am sure there are some vegans who miss the key word "WELL PLANNED" and mess it up.
People always seem so disappointed that there isn't some long, convoluted formula – or the opposite ONE SIMPLE TRICK- to eat / live healthily. Eat a variety of foods, not too much of the less healthy foods (fat, salt, sugar, and prepared foods), moderate alcohol, don't smoke, and get good exercise and sleep. That's it. It's what we've know all along.
No pun intended, but this has given a lot of food for thought. Thanks for sharing it.
I know I’m overweight and I sit down a lot for my job. That means I need to start moving but I honestly yeah I fast food here and there but I honestly eat proportionally early really good to vegetables pre-cooked even vegetables to beans, rice, chicken, pork, and beef I’m just gonna learn to eat it three mill a day piece of breakfast I used to grow up. I was never fat I was healthy kid, I’m just going up and I gotta get rid of stress
Great video!
Another brilliant video Josh, you clearly put a lot of time and effort into your content and it's very informative 👏🏻
Can i just clarify and reiterate that a well-planned vegan diet (and every diet should be well-planned) can provide all the nutrients we need. Including birth & infancy, pregnancy, athletes, etc.
It isn't just another fad and it goes well beyond diet.
Not a criticism of the video btw
is this some anti – keto shit ?
Amazing video!
Dad diets on the extreme weather it's all meat, veganism, keto, raw food or some other extreme will always be terrible for the human. Raw meat always needs to be cooked. There's a diet that I like called the Thermo diet since it's about better quality food, as well as avoiding foods like soy, legumes and a few other foods. But it's about eating a well rounded diet and working out. Once humans discovered fire they created barbecue and cooked meat. Most vegetables are actually fruits or tubers. A savory fruit is still a fruit. The Japanese can absorb soy better than European men because their ancestors have eaten soy for thousands of years. Europeans can consume dairy better than other people because Europeans have consumed dairy for thousands of years.
as soon as i stopped obsessing over my weight is when i was able to gain "control" over it. its not about control. i still eat chicken nuggets and stuff. but its more about being aware of how many calories are going in and i have like a 20 mins to 1h30 workout that i make myself do every or couple of days depending on how long i work out. i found that oldschool aerobics while hiding in my room because i hate having eyes on me was the best way to go about it. i enjoy it so much and it helps correlating "working out" with a positive moment during my day. thaty last part has changed eeeeeeverything for me omg. i used to not work out. but since i know i freaking LOVE aerobics; now i do work out. eat healthy stuff that tastes good and is satisfying. dont avoid your favourite foods entirely. mind your portions instead and be "glass half full" about it. because if you avoid your favourite food for too long . from FULL ON experience. ITLL MAKE YOU CRASH SOO BAD. like you literally will become a hungry animal and start binge eating until you finally give your body the ONE food it craves. and that cycle is so exhausting mentally . dieting is hell if your way to go about it is self punishment. obviously unless that works well for you. but if it doesnt. be kind to yourself and chilll. and most of all be patient and forgiving to yourself. i mean those arent physical-food related things. but it helped me so maybe its good enough to help somebody else.
This is full of misinformation. Keto for instance isn't a fad diet, the well named Standard American Diet (SAD diet) is a fad diet, nobody ate like that 100 years ago. Keto solves so many health problems without meds and has an enormous amount of scientific evidence behind it.
Best diet in the world? Mom's cooking after a harsh day
My favorite diet is the seafood diet, I see food then I eat it.
Liver kings comment about eating an organ benefits your own of the same kind made me burst into laughter 😂
If youre trying to lose weight just remember key is to create a calorie deficit. As long as you're burning more than you eat, you're good.
The reason people say something is "healthy" is because of nutrients so to speak. Eating 1,000 calories from a salmon and rice dinner is better for you than eating 1000 calories of ice cream.
So remember
1. Create a caloric deficit.
2. Drink lots of water all the time.
3. Try to avoid calorie dense food(like oily stuff or sweets and soda). You can eat them, but always track your consumption.
4. Exercise. While not necessary, it really helps. It did for me.
5. Avoid any place that tells you to take supplements, or a magic cure or cleanse. They dont work.
6. Don't weigh yourself everyday. If you drink lots of water, you'll be heavier than normal. Check every week. Remember to only weigh yourself on an empty stomach
7. Sleep!!!! This is very important and people never realise!
8. Tracking. Take pictures of yourself when you start and look back on them for motivation. It sounds corny, but i promise you that it is very important.
9. Don't see people with rippling muscles and feel despair. A lot of ultra muscled people aren't actually healthy either. The best way to gauge your progress is by your own activity. Can you move around more? Are you so tired when you take the stairs? Those old pants fit me again? My clothes are a little loose? These are much better than trying to look like a plastic action figure.
You will get tired. You will succumb and gorge on food somedays. You might even shed tears. Losing weight takes time and effort. Its hard to see everyone else eat or pass all these restaurants. But have faith, and know what you're capable of.
Good luck to anyone that starts trying to better themselves!
So the fence sitting that you’re doing with diets is actually also doing harm. It gives people an excuse to just eat whatever. Only one diet has been shown in studies over and over again to not only prevent but reverse heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Not going to mention what it is. I’m betting you already know. It’s the only “diet” that consistently gets these results and ironically it’s very cheap. There is an optimal human diet. This “some diets are good for some people, other diets are good for other people” narrative that you’re pushing is objectively incorrect.
Edit: okay, upon hearing your conclusion, it seems like you genuinely don’t know. The answer is a whole food, plant based diet. Look into the work of Michael Greger, Caldwell Esselstyn, Neal Barnard, John McDouggal, and other doctors who have put the evidence on display and shown irrefutably that this is the answer. Sincerely, there is a mountain of evidence supporting this. Maybe you just haven’t come upon it. That would make sense since no one can make big profits over pushing people to eat more beans or broccoli. Completely leaving any ethical or environmental arguments aside, the science solely based on nutrition and the human body supports this. No other diet has been shown through placebo controlled, double blind studies to turn people’s health around so dramatically. You will find no other diet capable of reversing heart disease.
Carnivore is good for you, but I do hate the cultish behavior around it
Healthy Keto is the most sustainable life style. Ive done almost everything but only Healthy Keto worked for me and still does after 5 years!
I listen to doctors not you or anyone else without PhD next to their name.
All diets work on one thing, maintaining a calorie deficit. Be it through diet or exercise.
That is why there are folks that can consume 3K to 4K Calories a day as maintenance due to how active they are.
While you get overweight eating the same food they do if you don't do incorporate their work out regime (and you are not likely able to match their exercise session either)
Even when lightly working out 5 times a week (i lose an average of 150 kcal to 200 kcal per session), even 2500 calories was almost too much for me. I can only safely maintain at 2000 calories without gaining or losing too much weight.
So ultimately it boils down to eating less and trying to consume food that keeps you full for longer so you stop on snacking and yeah, ditch sodas.
There are diets that proclaim that they are better than the other, I only care if it is sustainable while getting sufficient nutrients. If you cannot foresee yourself keeping to it for even 2 to 3 years, don't bother.
Create your own eating habits based on what works for your body. Dont make it a diet, just make smarter choices.
Fun Fact: Breatharianism is a popular diet in Mainland China around 1959 – 1961
Interestingly carnivoremd changed his direction which just shoepws the guy ranting against him was sensationalistic/biased and JoshBrett's choice of the clip is suspect
Perhaps there isnt 'A best diet'
Unfortunately the ' established, orthodox dietary advice ' has been repeatedly shown to be politically, commercially and religiously based and has lost all credibility
It seems to me that humans are omnivores.
The safest bet of food is vegetables and grains.
I deal in health science show me the science that says I have to eat meat or cooked food since raw wfpb is being portrayed as extreme and a fad diet in this film, I read PubMed, NIH etc.. I've been wfbp 6yrs and raw for last 4yrs out of the six no issues, no supplements, no orthorexia, I wonder would this guy tell Dr Aris Latham who is considered the Father of Raw food he's extreme Dr Latham was honored by the Oxford Encyclopedia of Food and Drink as The Father of raw food he's been raw almost 50 yrs no supplements, tell Paul Nisson 25yrs raw, John Kholer 27yrs raw, Loren Lockman 30 yrs raw, Dr Fred Bishi almost 60 yrs raw and still a practicing physician etc.. The list is to long, fad diet! Extreme sure buddy, orthorexia ha!
Every person is different, I grew up on a farmer diet, potatoes, meat vegies, and my dad cooked, eastern kitchen recipes that are more fish and vegetarian in nature. Pic, what fits you, best
Breatharians should look up how Ukrainians looked without food in the 1930s or the jews in ww2 or the gulag prisoners of the ussr
All these diets combined is the see food diet for me
Air causes oxidation to the body, I stop breathing for about a month now and I feel great!
THE best video I have ever seen breaking down fad diets and diet culture.
Well what do you know, social media is the perfect breeding ground for fake news and stupid fad diets and other s*** to spread. Did not see this coming at all. It really is Darwinism in its most evolved state, forget being in a Black Mirror episode, this dystopian society is a whole ass Black Mirror MMO by itself.
love it
I feel like most people forget that everyone digests food different. What can be „good“ for one is quite damaging for the other. I am gluten intolerant, that doesn’t mean that gluten in and of itself is bad. It’s just not good for me.
Humans forgot to listen to their bodily cues – and I feel like each and every person should spend some time to ask themselves „how does my body react to different food types?“
There are more universal effects (e.g. Having „bad“ reactions to too much processed foods) and more unique and niche reactions (like being gluten intolerant). At the end of the day, it is important to know how your own body reacts to food stimuli – only then will it be possible to hack your behavior with the goal of feeling your best. As you once nicely said „it’s no use looking good if you don’t feel good“
Honestly just eat 60 percent fried rice 35 percent chicken (not fried) and 5 percent vegetables very beneficial for you
The real fad diet is the Standard American Diet. It's almost like it is the cause of the obesity epidemic. (it is) 🤣
You are a consumer. Eat what they sell you. Take the pills that fix the problems the food causes. Nobody cares, it's just money for politicians and corporations.
🤡🗺
58 and have never tried a fad diet………..Never needed too……
People are just soooo unhappy…..
Extreme diets have emerged because people are getting sick from eating whatever they like.
A bit sketchy putting vegans on the same level as these Carnivore Diet people. The Carnivore diet wants people to eat meat *only*. No chips with your fish, no rice with your chicken, no broccoli with your beef, just meat. The craziest vegans yell at you for eating meat. (I am separating this from the raw vegan crowd which … yeah no comment). This is a false equivalency. If you only eat meat and you are not an Inuit before 1930 chances are you will get health issues. Being a hardcore vegan won't give you health problems (and keeping a nutritional balance is encouraged).
Just wanted to point out that being vegan isn't a diet. It's a moral stance, that happens to exclude animal products from your life (whenever possible), based on the belief that animals shouldn't be used as a commodity. You can be a vegan that lives off potato chips because you are lazy (like a lot of omnis), or you can be a healthy vegan that eats a balanced diet (like a lot of omnis), or you can be a vegan who's on a dangerous fad diet (like a lot of omnis). You don't even have to believe that eating plant-based is healthier than being an omnivore, tons of omnivores know that they could be following a healthier diet and don't really care about it, due to money, laziness, or whatever.
But, being a fruitarian or whatever, just because you think it's healthier, that doesn't make you vegan. You are just a health nutjob, who happens to have found a diet that excluded animal products.
If most ppl fall for it, it doesn't mean it isn't natural selection. It means there are a lot of stupid ppl on this planet. Congrats for waking up.
