I tried this recipe. The gravy came out excellent. Tofu didnt turn crispy. How long do we need to dry the tofu? The best part of this recipe, all the ingredients are basics, easily available in your kitchen pantry. I added a twist of adding sauted vegetables. Everyone loved it. Thanks for posting such recipe for which we dont need to make a grocery trip.
At first i didn't like it (must've done something wrong lol) as it was not spicy enough, so I again fried it with some onion and added chilli powder (life savior) then I ate it with rice ๐ and it was haven. I do recommend it but make sure to add chilli as you like it otherwise it will taste nothing but soy sauce
I am not vegetarian or vegan at all, but your recipes are so delicious and so easy that youโve inadvertently been making my family eat plant based๐ And if we do want some meat itโs so easy to add some to the things that you make! Thank you so much ๐๐ผ
I never get why Americans always press the heck out of tofu to get it crispy. Some even buy gadgets to press it when you can buy it pressed ๐๐คฃ. It is ridiculous, time and money wasting. Donโt ever buy American made tofu from regular groceries! Itโs disgusting. Just go to Asian store and get China style firm tofu. No need pressing, no need cornstarch. The tofu will be crispy and also tastes delicious.
So true. A lot of times when people say that they don't like tofu, you can often trace it back to someone having a very bland style of cooking tofu… Contrast it to the dish MAPO TOFU for example, which is an explosion of flavor.
I eat plain tofu straight out of the package and sometimes with just kimchi but then again I am part Korean and have been eating it my entire life. Today, I am going to make gimbap sandwiches using marinated tofu that tastes like spam. Tofu is awesome!

Lol, I use to hate tofu too! I learned how to make it right, now I eat it all the time.
Thanks very Korean
Tofu already tastes good by frying it with any chili oil๐ and it is protein too not excessive carbs
As a vegan-
how the actual f*** do you make tofu unhealthy๐

This made for such a delicious meal! Thank you! (I substituted a pressed clove of garlic for the garlic powder)
I think it doesn't only look cool, the rough edges also make it easier for the sauce on to stick to it.
Also ich hab des Rezept ausprobiert und muss sagen das es dass erste rezept ist was ich letztlich wirklich gegessen habe (:
Awwww didnโt say crrrrriiiiissssspppppyyyy
You're lucky that your firm tofu is so much more firm than the average tofu I can buy ๐

Tofu's moniker is the edible playdough.
