I would appreciate some feedback if possible. I have been following a whole food, plant based diet, no oils, no sugar for the past three months. The purpose was to bring down cholesterol and fat, which has happened and now within normal limits. One is issue is my HbA1c. The base was 5.3 but after three months eating plant-based, the value jumped to 5.7. A bit surprised. Also Hemoglobin is a bit low. Comments, suggestions? Thank you

To reduce bloating, I’ve tried beano and a few other methods. The most effective was to soak the beans in room temperature water for a few hours (overnight if they are uncooked), cover with tea towel and rinse well with water when ready to cook. It’s helped me a lot.

Great show. Nice to learn that McDonald's is introducing the McPlant burger–it has to be more healthful than their other burgers. I used to have a hard time finding something healthy when I had to get a bite on the way home from a late day of work, and this should help! One question I have is: Do people have cell walls as Dr. Loomis mentioned, or did he mean to say cell membranes? Is it plant cells that actually have cell walls that are tough and rigid? Just wondering. Thanks again for all the healthful tips.

Kimchi, sauerkraut, fermented foods are not good. Fermentation is done best by our own gut environment which is completely different than the salt environment used for creating those foods. Fermentation with salt creates good bacteria but bad also and waste products too like formaldehyde. Plus, the fresh vegetables are just better. Feed yourself fresh vegetables rather than feeding the yeast and other bacteria and let your own fermentation do its thing.
Chuck Sometimes a bit of thinking outside the box is needed with a cheese addict.
This is something I have used very successfully with people who are not 100% plant based, but are 100% Kosher.
I have told them, that before eating cheese to eat a very small piece of meat, chicken or lamb.
Due to the laws of Kashrut this prevents them from eating any milk product for 6 hours.
It is simple but effective in breaking the habit.

Hi, I have been vegan for last 10 months or so. I have don blood test in March-2020, Aug-2020 & few days ago. My bilirubin Total is 1.74 (0.3 — 1.2) & it's been roughly same in all the 3 blood test. I have lost around 5kg after going vegan & my weight has stayed same (around 63kg) since then. My body (muscle) has lost quite a bit of fat, consequently (assumption) my bilirubin total has gone upwards. Is there anything I can do to bring bilirubin Total within range (0.3 — 1.2) ? Thanks in advance 🙂

Here in Denmark, the McDonald's plant burger taste, as if it is fried in the same oil and pan as the meat. That makes no sense and taste not good.
Children not eating veggies – try to grow them and involve children in the process. They will love planting seeds and seeing veggies to grow and will be more prone to trying them. If there is no possibility of growing, visit “pick your own” farms and make it an exciting outing where kids can pick their own veggies to eat.

About getting kids to eat: I was the only family member (2 girls & a boy) who didn’t like all the vegetables that the rest of the family did. The one I REALLY had trouble with was boiled baby okra. Slimy fuzzy gaggers. Going into my teens my mother pressed me to “just try one” – ON MY BIRTHDAY! I couldn’t get it down. I’ve never been able to eat them, only sliced in gumbo – not too many. All the other veggies I eventually tried & accepted. DON’T FORCE it!
