Chennai: Say ‘vegan’ and everybody thinks about food. But there’s a whole lot more that’s available for people who are looking at leading a vegan lifestyle. That’s why CPR Environmental Education Centre, along with Karuna Foundation, are organising a Vegan Festival from July 22 to 24 at CP Art Centre, Alwarpet.
“There are plenty of alternatives to animal products – belts, wallets, bags, clothing, and even musical instruments such as the mridangam,” says Chinny Krishna, co-founder, Blue Cross of India. “We are conducting it for the first time as we wanted to show the public how many alternatives there are for people who are looking out for it.
Kuntal Joisher, a vegan who climbed Mt Everest twice, will inaugurate the festival. Gayathri Shankar, who runs the vegan restaurant The Viridian Plate in Thiruvanmiyur, is one of the participants,
