How much sweet potato for your recipe?
I have just made this, with a couple of subs: I used vanilla pod instead of extract, maple syrup instead of dates, and allspice instead of nutmeg, plus a little black pepper. I used two small sweet potatoes, baked and cooled. I think maybe one next time, as it was very thick, but it was delicious. I'm also going to add spinach and cacao powder next time to increase the level of antioxidants even more. Great recipe. Thanks, Anja. I am not very fond of sweet potatoes in and of themselves but they are great in smoothies or any kind of blend.

Smoothies are great if you are in a hurry and need to drink your breakfast on the go. As I understand it (from nutritionfacts.org) drinking your calories is not good for weight loss as eating them. On the other hand, compared to a non vegan breakfast, I am sure it would help with weight loss. Actually, I am trying to gain weight and will try this to help me do so. Subscribed!

Thanks for this recipe Anja! I like my smoothie very cold, like a milkshake, so after the potatoes cooled I cut them in chunks and froze them for several hours. Once everything was in the blender, I let it sit for just a couple of minutes to slightly soften the potato for a smoother blend. Also, if you go lighter on the liquid you have the consistency of soft ice cream… this would make a wonderful base for a breakfast smoothie bowl. Yum!!!

Try roasting the potato in the oven so some of the nutrients don't leak into the water when boiling
