10:20 As a lovely patron pointed out, tofu is mostly fat per percentage of calories, but it's mostly protein by weight (fat has more calories per gram than protein or carbs). Not sure why I assumed percentage of calories, I guess weight makes more sense in terms of which macronutrient is dominant in a food? As if any of this shit makes sense lol
So according to Dr. Mona, the only way we could be vegan and get enough protein would be to eat mock meats, protein powder, and soy. Shes anti-soy btw because of course she is ("however much you can limit soy is better" from her 7 healthy snacks video)
Lol. I only get the 'CHAOS' when my sleep is shit
Food combining helps a lot of people with bloating and digestion problems. As you said, this is not a new concept. I think the fact that most people are so quick to dismiss food combining is likely due to the fact that they just don't want to let go of "yummy" combinations – ie no sandwiches, no oatmeal with fruit, no rice bowls with beans or tofu. Also, you're making sweeping generalizations. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence from people who DO follow a whole-foods, plant-based diet who struggle with bloating and digestion problems who have success with food combining. I know when I actually adhere to food-combining protocols, my stomach is much flatter, I don't feel bloated, and I am not tired after meals. You can definitely hit all your macros following this protocol.
I realised why I enjoy you so much. You’re like the Myles Power of the vegan world and I really enjoy people using logic and common sense for once.
Sounds like she read kimberly snyder's books…. she even looks like kimberly snyder which is weird… v weird.
It is haunting to me how little this pharmacist knows about human physiology and Biochemistry
I don’t think I’ve ever felt “BUBBLING” in my stomach ?!Is my digestive tract ok 😤😂
Everyone has the right to believe in or do something completely unsupported by science, but what's truly shocking is how she says it as if it was an undeniable fact (even scientists who have methodically worked on a certain mechanism their entire life are often reluctant to present their results as the ultimate truth)
I think it really depends on the persons. For me, I can eat without problems proteins and starches together and same for the majority of foods. But, I have sensitivities, IBS and when I eat fruits with fats for exemples i feel bad.. And same for other things. Before I didn't know those combinations, and now that I don't combine some certains foods together I really feel better. So it really depends and there is always a balance to find for sure
I stopped combining some things especially fruits my digestion cleared up completely robert guyton hygenic eating SOME combos arent good ☝🏽☝🏽 Fit for Life
I will say on a basic not blown out of proportion level, food combining can be helpful. Its not anything the pharmacist says it is 😂 and its not combining macros. Its just foods. Like we know eating a bunch of anchovies and then a ton of chocolate cake right on top of each other would hurt your tummy right? Its just being aware of what you are combining. Screw all the crazy rules. Thats not true. Of course you can have fruit for dessert! Maybe just give it an hour for best digestion. Its that simple. Yes there can be spiritual sides to it with Ayurveda and Macrobiotic but you can choose to follow any of that or not. Ignore everything the pharmacist just said lol
How did this woman ever her her pharmacy degree? I just can’t listen to any more talk of ‘chaos’ and ‘putrification in the stomach’ – it’s too annoying!!
What works for one person doesnt work for all of us, and especially for beginners in the wfpb diet , is hard to come from usa standard diet to this diet, food combing makes it easy.
How people live on food combining is forever gonna be a mystery to me. I purposely combine certain foods so they will be EASIER to digest. Not keeping them seperate?! Literally does the opposite of what they claom.
8:45 could someone tell me what website this is? it looks very helpful
Idk I’ll still be over here in the corner eating melon alone
in case anybody was wondering I eat 4 cans of beans daily and my shit don't stank and neither do my farts.
Pardon my ignorance, but taste wise, I like the four sigmatic coffee. Never had the "elixir" but I find the coffee to be pretty smooth and tasty…but what's the hype on the product? I came across it in the sale shelf at my whole foods co-op, but everyone has this trigger that I'm not grasping. Are mushrooms good in coffee? Bad?
Mona inspired me to go to vegan!❤️
A pharmacist with absolutely no knowledge about nutrition should not be giving out nutrition advice. Spouting out wrong information about food “rotting in your stomach and not being digested” is just wrong!
Gunnaroo
This channel must be where all the toxic vegans come to gossip.
Just… eat! When your body says it’s hungry, just eat! Simple.
Some of these crazy vegans must have like OCD
Is she really a pharmacist ?
That sounds so boring
That last line had me rolling.
It's always concerning when someone who has a doctoral degree in one field goes on social media and starts referring to themselves broadly as 'a doctor.' Look at that Unwell documentary on Netflix. A chiropractor who calls himself a doctor, and legit encourages people on youtube to use ingesting essential oils (a big no-no) and focusing on that to treat cancer. A man who is NOT an MD, NOT an oncologist, should not be making ANY recommendations for treatment of cancer, or dietary recommendations, for that matter.
A pharmacist taking charcoal?!?!?! I'm so confused.
Food combining really does help my digestion, but my psychologist said it's too close to ED behaviour and I need to try to have at least 3 types of food together which hurts my tummy 😬😩
Wow I really thought alkaline diet would have benefits (even though I never followed it). Thank you for explaining the research and debunking the myth!
im 57 menopausal i get reflux from bread rice pasta ive gone to sourdough bread thank goodness it doesnt give me reflux ive started eating healthy exercising an drinking water my weight finally is dropping ive cut out sugar too sugar craves sugar its a trial an error with me as im on my weight journey fall down get up again is my motto
Hell i'd think it would be worse. Less satiated. Except for maybe sugar fat. Not carbohydrates, but sugar. Since that's simply addicting. You can eat a greater volume of say fries, than cooked potato. Maybe not healthy. But satiated is easier when you do combine stuff?
I keep hearing the alkaline bullshit from random people and I’m just like, do you think we excrete bleach or lye to digest food? Lol
I wonder whether she is actually working as a pharmacist (sorry, did not and will not willfully watch any of her videos which is why I don't know) anymore or ever has if she is messing up even the most basic knowledge you should have as a proper pharmacist (or school kid). I am just waiting for the day when someone claims that our digestive tract is actually non-existent or does not look like portrayed in the textbook, but is in reality just a pretty pink bow that mystically unravels if you practise food combining.
It's interesting because I used to think that philosophy is kind of useless, but after knowing that you studied philosophy, I feel like you are such a critical thinker who ends up considering every option thinking well about them and learning the correct one. By doing that it seems like you end up knowing a little bit about everything, maybe I should study a bit of philosophy myself in order to learn to think the way you do 🙂
The closest to anywhere near truth in food combining is that digestive enzymes work most optimally in certain pH. However food consumed should not really affect the pH of intestine that much as bicarbonate is secreted to neutralize the acidity when contents of stomach enter intestine. Bicarbonate also functions as a buffer so the pH remains quite stable
I find it shocking that she got through pharmacy school and is able to believe this garbage. As someone who graduated with a pharmacy degree, nutrition was one of the courses I had to take. I just don't see how if you have a brain in your head, you can take an intensive nutrition course (never mind all the things we had to learn about how drugs are broken down in the gut and how they are absorbed), walk away with that knowledge and with no embarrassment state something to the effect of, "if you eat something that digests slowly followed by something that digests quickly it is going to cause chaos in your stomach". Oh my god. I just can't. Do you think food is having a food fight in your gut? Plus the whole alkaline acidic thing. How did she graduate? I don't mean to sound mean but, come on, our bodies are a lot more elegant and sophisticated than this woman would like you to believe. I'm embarrassed for her. 🤦♀️
Of course there are doctors out there who promote absolutely ridiculous and downright dangerous garbage so hey, goes to show, college isn't set up to teach critical thinking.
It's telling that she says "this is a FACT you can look this up" at 7:09 as though that's the one profound information she's actually sure of. And she's just making up the rest.
I'm not a vegan, but I will say this fraud is just regurgitating Traditional Chinese medicine woo with horse shit uneducated bilge(which is where TCM originated). Like the idea if you drink a cold drink with a fatty or oily meal it will coagulate the fat or oil in your arteries. Absolute woo, junk science and horse shit.
Ah, pseudo-science. Looks like it afflicts everyone these days.
