Talking about calories is so stupid. I costantly see people talking about calories! It drives me crazy. To calculate the calories of a food you have to burn it!!! Can you tell me where are we burning our food in our bodies? We metabolize it! We don't burn it! Therefore it makes no sense to talk about calories when we talk about nutrition! We should talk about hormones! And the only one guilty of making us fat is insuline! Just pay attention to not raise insulin levels and you will get thinner. It's as simple as that! You don't want to have sugar in your bloodstream!
I lost 75 pounds after leaving my toxic ex. Does that fit with this concept???
I can see the points, and I have some what different experiences. I definitely have gained weight every time I've consumed stuff that heightens my insulin. Wheat is the worst of them, but corn- and potatostarch also happens to give me bloated belly. Rice isn't very good for my bowel. I don't think that the reason people gain weight on eating meat, but because the meat is eaten with high amount of carbs (especially wheat). Also, in your referred study I assume they weren't looking at the other dietary changes than meat? It's totally clear, that if you eat tons of sugar and bad carbs and eat meat and oil deep fryed stuff, you will gain weight.
What I would like to know is that what would happen if the meateater group would've eaten good grade meats, good fats and stitched the bad carbs, what would the study say then.
Omg, the mice, and the word "obesogene", first I thought you were going to tell people not to eat mice. (Don't worry, I wouldn't have anyway.)
Completley agree. Whole foods are low calorie but more dense and fiilling
Then why did the doctor that went on the calorie controlled TWINKEE diet lose weight and get improved vital signs?
Stan efferding has a pretty good vid on why organic isn't necessarily better for fruits and vegetables and can even be worse in some cases.
Day 4 of being vegan. I'm sold. It really makes it easier to shop too.
I'll watch this tomorow. I'm really struggeling with weight loss right now. I have been training and "eating well" for about a year now, but I've only been vegan for 4 months now. So with "eating well" I mean I didn't reflect on my diet and just though "avoid transfats and sugar, go for protein". I was highly overweight (130 kilo) and lost about 30 kilo already, but eversince going vegan I really struggle to lose additional weight. I don't know if it is because I eat a lot more carbohydrates then when my mouth was still participating in the needles holocaust of animals, but I'm positive I'll find a more healthy and sustainable approach within a reasonable amount of time. Your channel has helped me so much already, and I'm glad I found this video of yours 🙂
PS: there is a bug in all of you videos. For a strange kind of reason I can only like them one time.
cool
I can’t afford organic food. Is washing good enough?
I got fat while pregnant and contracting preeclampsia, while not overeating. Breastfeeding did not combat this. If that doesn't question the calories in calories out myth. One possible factor that supports the info in this video? My doctor encouraged avid milk drinking. I foolishly followed my doctor's advice to the letter.
Just being around people with poor diets you absorb bad gut bacteria from the air and make you gain fat easily.
Also I wonder if vaccines are causing problems. Vaccines are loaded with toxins.
Great job and right to the point .
How did I miss this video?
I intuitively knew that it was not just about calories. I think I rationalized it as toxins making it harder for the body to perform it's functions, and now you're talking about toxins 😄👌
1200 calories a day, mostly meat, eggs, and veg. Not too much
Mic, please stop referring to BMI, it's bad science. There are much better tools for assessing obesity. the formula leads to confusion and misinformation. BMI is bogus. BMI has significant flaws. For example, it does not measure the overall fat or lean tissue (muscle) content.
BMI is derived from a simple math formula. It was devised in the 1830s by Lambert Adolphe Jacques Quetelet, a Belgian astronomer, mathematician, statistician, and sociologist. He was not a medical doctor or researcher. He applied a simple math formula to EVERYONE regardless of ethnicity, body type or amount of body fat.
The height term, he says, divides the weight by too much when people are short, and by too little when they are tall.
The result is that short people being told they are thinner than they really are, while tall people are made to think that they are fatter than they are.
BMI aims to estimate whether a person has a healthy weight by dividing their weight in kilograms (kg) by their height in meters squared. RIDICULOUS!
Damnit, vegan, exercising and still chubby ^^ so energy in vs energy out it is again.
I love you, dear hermano! You're the best vegan youtuber.
Until the time I decided to go vegan, weight was always a big problem. I wasn't classed as obese, but always getting close, always exercising (a keen gardener), and always, always hungry (living on only 2 meals a day, and one of those was small).
Now I am losing weight and eating as much as I like. I don't go hungry at all and it doesn't matter if I fancy a snack an hour before bed. Grab some berries from the freezer and don't fret over the consequences. There aren't any.
Going vegan is the best thing I've ever done and it's easier than I thought it would be.
So should whole food plant based diet vegans count their calories? Or eat as much as they want? (While eliminating oil, and no more than 10% fat, 10% protein)
That's so interesting! Milk is not chill and so is animal products. I shall do my best in eating the healthiest way possible.
FACTS imma bout to eat my vegan ice cream sandwich in the freezer
Mic are you a enviromental science major?
Thank you 😊
I've seen that there are so many genotoxic food additives and carcinogens in US food. And people eat that. If you eat food with BHT you will 100% get cancer, the same as my dog did, got many tumors and died from liver cancer, now we buy a food without preservatives to our new dog.
Mic what kind of teleprompter do you use?
“Toxic chubby baby”
I come from generations of cattle and sheep farmers. It's because I had helped my grandma with cows that I dont eat meat. And mind you, her cows were happy, free and with their children. Very peaceful and wonderful animals. I was raised on milk products and I firmly believed that was the proper diet of my ancestors and something ~healthy~ for me.
I cut off dairy products a week ago because I expereinced hair loss due to stress and I figured it would help. I lost 14lbs in a bit more than a week and I dont feel like a giant log rolling around.
Anyways thanks for reading i am off to buy some kale
4:16 pause and look up the study or just read the Background sentence which states how rare prostate cancer is in Asian men- until they adopt a western diet! It was primarily focused on the role of diet in cancer.
Is there anything that's an opposite to obesogens? Just curious.
Are you seriously using BMI as a marker?? Hahahahaa
BMI is redundant complete waste of time
……yup……..truth……..although i am grateful for the habits of moderation and low fat/calorie choices i've cultivated during my processed/animal/dairy foods era……..thanx for sharing………:)
Excellent and true as always… Also:
Weight Loss Magic: consume more of your calories earlier in the day and stop eating 2 – 4 hours before bed.
Meal Timing / Caloric Timing Matters more than the Amount of Kcal/day!:
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/oby.20460/abstract
identical 1,400-calorie-a-day diets…those who ate the large meal in the morning lost two and a half times as much fat as those eating the large dinner. The large-breakfast group also lost more belly fat — and saw more improvement in metabolic factors like fasting glucose levels.
And this just published September, 2017, from the Adventist 2 study:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28701389
Meal Frequency and Timing Are Associated with Changes in Body Mass Index in Adventist Health Study 2.
–Similar findings from a group of mostly Plant Based eaters with super healthy habits. Where as the other study was with of obese folks with insulin resistance, this study is with Seventh Day Adventists, who largely avoid alcohol, processed foods, overeating, meat and are therefore fairly fit to begin with.
To really geek out on this see the research by Dr. Satchidananda Panda, who claims that our pancreas basically goes to sleep at 7pm, so we all have "evening diabetes".
More weightless magic: Eat beans. -also improves glucose sensitivity, even for the next meal you eat after the meal with beans.
https://nutritionfacts.org/video/beans-and-the-second-meal-effect/
Eating a diverse whole food all plants diet with beans at least twice a day is likely all the magic you will need to lose weight and feel better than you ever thought possible.
Are you really saying all vegans are normal BMI? Also, it appears to me that you selectively pick data that supports your views and leave out data or explanations that are contrary to your agenda. For example, in this video although calories may have trended down a bit, you never mentioned that physical activity has decreased over that time period. I've been writing about health and fitness for over ten years on a free site, and I have no agenda other than caring about people's health.
What the hell is a "semi-vegetarian"?
I went vegan recently and it's very very hard where I live to get stuff so I make everything from scratch but the difference on how I feel, I don't bloat or retain liquid anymore, go to the bathroom regularly for once and how I don't seem to gain weight anymore, I just loose weight with regular exercise so easily, a clean conscience doesn't bother either.
I don't like to how many popular vegan groups have depraved what is to be vegan and in the process, alienating others from being vegan by making outrageous claims so I'm glad for people like you not saying BS for popularity, it might help change someone's mind by making total and actual sense. I can attest to what you're are saying by my personal experience wholeheartedly
As much as I agree with this I still have to question how others such as kinobody per se calorically restrict themselves while eating significant amount of meat and stay lean.. is it just genetics at this point?
another great video! but i'm confused. if estrogen fattens people, then why do perimenopausal women gain weight more easily with the decline of estrogen?
I have been vegan for 5 month. I have cut back on oil and sugar and I go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week. My weight is still increasing! WTF 😀
I feel like most of this is due to lack of exercise. If you do 30 minutes of strenuous cardio a day you burn an extra 400-500 calories a day which lets you eat more.
So as a vegan are you pro animal testing? You quote a lot of studies that use animal testing. Not giving my opinion one way or the other just curious of yours
Obesagons?!😂😂😂😂 wow I think this is my new favorite word
Thank you
The "Lightly Walking Vegans." Lol! Sounds like a brilliant band name.
That is not true. I drink lots of milk, eat lots of butter and carbohydrate, and my BMI is 18.2 and my fat level is 20.2 which put me in the category of an athlete. Each one is different and one side doesn't fit all.
What were the toxins
What do you think of Dr. Moritz's thoughts about the relationship between fat and toxicity?
