I'm not vegan, but I've been working on improving my health lately by cutting out almost all sugary, starchy, and processed foods and eating more of, and higher quality vegetables and animal products. I do respect those that wish to go without animal meats, and while many people wouldn't be willing to eat meat if they had to be involved in the process themselves, some like me have, and still do. I focus on getting high quality animal products from farms local to me, or even neighbors, that take great care of their animals and let them roam and eat what they naturally should be eating.
If nothing else from animals, I would highly recommend eating eggs because of the best ratio of amino acids of known foods, healthy omega 3's, and the shopping list of vitamins and minerals. A fertilized egg has to contain enough to build an entire new animal from it, after all. If you can have chickens yourself, or know someone who does, it's a million times better for you and them than whatever the grocery store sells. For those that for sure want veganism, do your best to get a variety of healthy foods. Helpful tools like that app to check the amino acid profile of protiens are great, as well as helping you better know what other nutrients you might be getting or lacking. Nevertheless, I would also suggest trying to avoid having super sugary foods all the time, like desserts or even too much fruit, and try to get more healthy fats in your diet like those from avocado, coconut, flax, olives, and more.
The best thing anyone can do for their health is starting to eat whole foods and cut out processed junk, vegan or not, and start trying to get themselves out and moving more.

I don't know where people get this whole carbs = fat? In school, we learned about the basics of nutrition. Carbs are a fat-free energy source! Fat makes you fat not carbs. Carbs break down into glycogen which is stored in our muscles ready for use as energy. It's that simple. Some carbs also go to our brain as glucose which our brain thrives on! Note I am talking about pure whole food carbs, not doughnuts and other junk foods that are full of oils and other fats that make you fat!

However, the regular use and the promotion of protein powders really calls into question the 'whole foods plant based is more than enough' argument. Having worked in the supplement retail business I have issues with what he is saying. While I agree with him that a plant based whole food diet is the way to go I do have issues with him excluding fish. Brain health is greatly helped by one food and that is fish or fish oil. Omitting fish I have seen leads to brain decline over time. Over 30 yrs in the business including fish in ones diet appears to prevent a lot of problems down the road especially when it comes to mental health. Your mental health in later years appear to be reliant on omegas more than anything else.

To be honest I was not convinced by the movie. They deliberately made their points by hiding facts and demonizing meat eating. They came with claims with no root in reality. I agree with that we should eat more vegetables. But there are absolutely no reason to give up meat for people who wants it. And good quality meat is healthy.

Just to support what your are saying, they fact is that observational studies from around the world show that people that eat high carbs (Whole food plant carbs, Not white flour or white rice or refined sugars) , low fat, are leaner and healthier. If you are low fat whole food planet based you don't need to count marco's as they are in the correct balance.. All proteins originate from plants, so why get it second hand!! Second hand has 10x the toxins in it compared to getting it directly from plants… Also when you eat animal protein you absorb toxins and you eat planet based those toxins flush thru you!! . I spent 6 yrs in the USMC I’ve been out 6 yrs now after getting hurt I now have a family and have somehow gone up 100 lbs and I am trying to get back down to my military weight before we have our second kid and am wanting to change my diet and be more like the guys in this documentary

I only watched 4 mins! So many wrong statements from a nutrition point of view!! Scary. Carbs don’t make you fat?? (They will cause insulin resistance and down the line make you diabetic and overweight). Refined sugar, cereals, doughnut and pizza make you fat because they are mainly fat?? (What!?).
Eating fat doesn’t make you fat. Just a bit of knowledge of basic human physiology would be enough to know that.
