if you want to eat tempeh, marinate them with corriander, garlic and salt (mashed into paste, mix with water and use it to marinate the tempeh) and fried them, or deep fried them with seasoned flour, like you do tempura. it taste so good. that's what i eat everyday in Indonesia

No one tells you this, but you need to steam tempe before cooking it whatever way ie: sauté or fry or bake. That’s most likely why you’re finding it bitter. It wasn’t steamed first 🤘

To take the bitterness out of tempeh, cut the block in half and boil for 15 minutes. Then take it out and cut up and cook how you want. It helps it taste SO much better!

I like cashewbutter, i like cashewcream (the stuff for cheesecakes and stuff) but i don't like cashews 😒 (they are too soft)
I like roasted almonds, i have not tried a almondbutter i don't like (no idea if roasted or not) but i don't care for almondmilk whether the almonds are roasted or not 😗 raw chopped almonds are great but whole are kinda annoying to chew.
Roasted pumkin seeds are good, pumkinseed butter is good (reminds me more of peanutbutter than almondbutter) but raw pumpkin seeds are gross 😑
So yeah texture and flavour can really vary with nuts (and seeds) 🤷♀️
Jaclyn Forbes is a makeup youtuber who does what I eat in a day and is vegan. She eats a well balanced healthy diet is not afraid of oil, coffee or any other silliness. She is a great example of a youtuber normalising veganism.

Finally..someone who eats their Fungi. & Tempeh will taste bitter when its been allowed to culture for too long before cold suppressing the Mycelium.
It's actually really easy to make your own Tempeh and you can make it with any grain or legume- not just soy. We culture ours on wildrice, sweet potato & lentils with powdered Portabello in the substrate mix.
I watch Picked up Limes videos, and during one of her meal preps she says you have to steam tempeh and then marinate it to get the bitter taste out. I'm going to try that, because the last time I made tempeh it was nasty to me too!

I love you videos, and I really love the little blurbs at the very end. One piece of feedback. When you do the patreon thing, that coupled with the longer dark screen pauses always make me think the video is over. On more than one occasion I've left early because I was like "oh, okay the patreon screen, she's done", but then I realize i probably missed part of the video. I don't know if this happens to other people or if its just a me thing

I advise cooking in pure caste iron, not enamelled. It’s awesome for non acidic dishes. I wouldn’t cook tomatoes or add lemon juice into the pan…but just about anything else is fine

Someone else has probably already said it but steaming tempeh before preparing it will remove some of the bitterness.
Late to this one but I remember the radio show delilah and my mom asked my "why do you like this crap?" It was total trash radio.

Bruh if your a vegan and your deficient in vitamin D and Iron then your clearly not eating the right way. Dark leafy greens have an abundance of iron in them per cup so it’s no reason to be lacking iron. Also several types of mushrooms are high in vitamin D for example and give more than enough for the recommended daily value. Just being vegan isn’t enough without knowledge of what your eating and how it affects your body.
Really dumb question here… Imstead of taking all of these separate vitamins, why not take a really good multivitamin instead?

I love tempeh. I'll choose it over tofu every time. It has this nutty taste and a good mouth chew for me? And it's $4 for 3 servings up in. I like to heat it up in a pan with balsamic vineger and a little sugar and sprinkle it on pizza. I guess it's kind of bitter? but im not a fan of most mock meats (i've been repulsed by meat since i was a kid, which led to this whole thing).

Back in 2017 I followed several Vegan YouTubers (I don't have to name names to make it obvious) which advertised and sold extremely restrictive, raw-food vegan diets. At the time I was living in Spain and developed an obsession of achieving the 'perfect'. Every few days I failed, and psychologically beat myself up each time. It was unsustainable so I gave up. Watching your videos makes me realise how much more accessible, for me, veganism actually is and that it doesn't have to be as restrictive as many people vouch.
