Hey Derek, quick question for you. There seems to be a big gluten free/grain free push happening and I am wondering what your thoughts are on this topic. You can check out gluten free society with Dr. Peter Osborne who advocates that whether you are celiac or not, gluten and all grains are very damaging and should be avoided. Any thoughts on this topic.

I make a very similar chili, but will definitely try crumbling tofu into it. Never done that. Fire roasted tomatoes are also my secret ingredient! They are WORTH IT.
I also add some frozen spinach & corn near the end. I always have those in the freezer and the more veggies the better
Definitely would add some nutritional yeast/brewers yeast at the end for that b12 boost! This looks great, I usually make a black bean beer chili that's with mushrooms and peppers but this is a nice way to use carrots and celery!

Hi you two. I love this recipe and have made it twice but I have a question why is it called a chilli when there is no chilli in it???? Or is that a Canadian thing. Here in New Zealand we would only call something a chilli if it had chilli in it???? I am a 77yr old New Zealander who became a WFPB s.o.s eater two years ago this month and am loving the lifestyle.
I do find it tricky to feed a non vegan family once a week on vegan food. (family of 10)

I just made this tonight!! It was super simple and it’s simmering now. To cut out the sodium, I skipped all of the aminos/soy sauce/etc. and I added 2 tablespoons of coconut sugar for the tomato acidity and a little sweetness balance. Oh I added 10oz of frozen corn too 😋 Thank you! I don’t usually try too many recipes online and this was an easy one for me. Now I have lots of yummy vegan chili for a few days too 🙂 😊

This looks so incredible! 🙌 Small tip— something I’ve been doing to get a more “meaty” texture, is smash 1/4 to 1/2 of the chickpeas. It really thickens it up, and gets that texture right on point! 🙌💛🤤 … also, try it with a sweet potato… #gamechanger 🙌😂

I make something similar but instead of carrots I use sweet potato and do it in the instant pot. Makes all the flavors just pop. You can also add a bottle of beer.
