Love rice, beans, and potatoes. But potatoes and beans have really not been sitting well lately. I lost weight more with potatoes as well, but aside from baked homemade fries I’ve pretty much had to give them up. Golden/yellow potatoes cause me less trouble than red or russets, but still cause issues.
AND – if anyone has a way of cooking brown rice that doesn’t turn into a giant glutinous brick, I would LOVE to hear it. I can’t stand sticky rice. I think I’ve tried every method out there; instant pot, lots of water, low water, quick rinse, overnight soak…nothing seems to work. 😕
Thank you for Sharing all your wisdom! Also, could someone speak in beans containing “lectins” and it being harmful for the gut? I’ve stopped eating them, but would live to hear some accurate info. Thanks.🌸
ok then i need help.. ive been on the wfpb program since day after Christmas.(2020) eating beans.. it shot up my Blood sugar levels plus made me so constipated, i didnt loose any weight. so i went to intermitten fasting 2 meals a day. the weight didnt drop off and my blood sugar came down a little bit.for a time but it is back up. average in the morning it is 154. Im on metformin and would like not to be. i did buy the books by Dr Greger and Joel Furhman on eating pb diet. ive very much incorp green plants from the get go. Yesterday bought rice i like the black wild rice and my husband likes the brown. but we rarely eat rice. it will last us 2 yrs. I dont eat beans every day either, or potatoes. im more of a veggie, fruit eater. but seems nothing is working
I’m glad I’m not the only one that eats beans all day. I think it has help cure my IBS. All the fiber in it, makes elimination proper. Yes, the powder room is my best friend now.
I realize I'm in the minority here but I just don't find potatoes to be satisfying, and unless I'm grossly miscalculating I don't really see the big calorie savings either. I typically eat a cup of brown rice with my meals, which is 216 calories. It fills me up along with my broccoli, mushrooms and beans. But when I substitute 185 grams of Stokes purple sweet potatoes for the rice (same calories), and have the exact same foods with it, I don't feel satisfied and also get more bloated and tired. I was reading in Neal Barnard's book How to Turn off Your Fat Genes that potatoes are higher GI than brown rice and can spike your blood sugar and insulin, so perhaps I'm more sensitive to that than others are
I went to a Korean cafe yesterday and they made the most delicious brown rice I had ever eaten. I was trying to eat brown rice instead of white and I was dreading the taste. But, it was nutty and perfect. They used a rice cooker. It think that’s the secret. Plus, maybe they used a special brand of rice. But, whatever it was amazing!
To cook brown rice, my most successful method is to bring a large pot of water to boil, add 1 or 2 cups of rice, boil for 30 min, drain water, let sit covered for about 30 min. Turns brown rice fluffy and is a fail-proof method for me.
Rice vs. Potatoes depends on your trigger food. Some people may be triggered by eating potatoes causing them to binge. My trigger food is wheat so no pasta or breads for me.
Potatoes….yum!!!! Love them more, but…..nightshades maybe causing inflammation hence weight gain. Except sweet potatoes are not nightshade. Im learning more about lentils, and gluten free "grains" amd seeds, like teff and millet. Cook your beans well!!! Even canned! Tip, try using enzymes and probiotics. Congrats btw!
You are so right about the oil!!! We used to just pour it on!! Me and my mom love beans too! I think I prefer and feel fuller with potatoes rather than rice. But as I use more veggies in my meals, it really doesn't matter. Congratulations on 10k my friend! Hope you are doing great!
Oh congratulations Stacia, youre very sweet and nice to listen to. I love potatoes, mostly baked or mashed, just alittle pinch of salt and pepper, sooo good! I hope you have a great day!❤😊
Brown rice keeps me full for a much longer time than potatoes do. I like to mix brown rice and cauliflower rice together to reduce the calories a bit and I absolutely love it
My husband was never a fan of brown rice but tolerated it. When I started cooking the brown rice in the instant pot he now prefers the brown rice. It makes a big difference
Many people don’t realize that brown rice should be soaked overnight to increase absorption of its nutrients. Also, it sweetens it up and makes it delish! I didn’t like it prior to soaking, now I love it!
I prefer rice but will eat potatoes just not everyday. I learned when I first started that to eat what you prefer and keep it simple. I wasted a lot of food trying recipes.
Congratulations on the 10K! It's because you make WFPB entertaining! Dr. Greger recommends we eat 1/2 cup of beans or lentils every meal. I love beans!
100% about the beans. I’ve sort of fallen of the wagon and trying I get back on track so I went to look at what I was eating last October and November. I remember that I always felt full and wasn’t craving my sugar ( just like you). Well r dry meal that I took pictures of had either a half cup of chickpeas (my fav) or black beans . I could get through lunch and dinner without a snack. Lately I’ve been doing potatoes and rice but they aren’t keeping me full so I am grabbing a snack in between . Thank you for reminding me . I’m going back to beans starting tonight . I honestly needed this reminder again !
I make my rice less calorie dense by making "fried" Rice with a lot of veggies. Ofcourse without the oil. Just water, spices and a little bit soy sauce.
Congrats on 10K, I pimp you to all my friends. You are my new favorite channel .

Brown rice keeps me fuller longer. I love potato but I’m generally very hungry shortly after a potato dinner or lunch
ppl must be eating too much rice cause i lose the same with either, BUT when i eat rice, it's a lower ratio compared to the taters
This is plant provision's intro music
Thank you so much for your videos ! ❤️
Potatoes for sure 👍
I'm definitely a white rice over potatoes kinda girl. I lose weight faster and feel fuller longer

Wow !!!! I learned so much today thank you 😊
How long did it take you reintroduce beans? 1/4 c for me is maximum. I’ve been trying to build up to more without success.

10K?!?!? You rock!! You deserve it, too. You've done a great job. 🙂
How were you getting your protein? I eat beans or lentils every day. Great on a baked potato!
Oh congratulations Stacia, youre very sweet and nice to listen to. I love potatoes, mostly baked or mashed, just alittle pinch of salt and pepper, sooo good! I hope you have a great day!❤😊
Great! And congrats on 10k💕

Loved the video as always! Congrats on 10k subscribers! You definitely deserve it! ❤
My husband was never a fan of brown rice but tolerated it. When I started cooking the brown rice in the instant pot he now prefers the brown rice. It makes a big difference
Beans are more nutrient dense than potatoes. The amount of protein and fiber alone makes them superior.
Ever since I started WFPB I don't crave sugar or sweets at all. I love beans, potatoes and brown rice. 😋
Dry roast the brown rice until it’s toasted and fragrant. Then cook it regular. It’s yummers.
Congratulations!

🥔
What type of beans are you eating please.
Congratulations on the 10K! It's because you make WFPB entertaining! Dr. Greger recommends we eat 1/2 cup of beans or lentils every meal. I love beans!
Loved the giant watermelon visual! Yum.

What about wild grain rice?
I can easily overeat on beans – but not so much on potatoes – how funny!!!
How do u eat your beans? Which is your fave?
What is your favorite way to have beans and what type?
Potatoes!
I make my rice less calorie dense by making "fried" Rice with a lot of veggies. Ofcourse without the oil. Just water, spices and a little bit soy sauce.
Cut your portions and go mix the potatoes and beans equally, you get the satiation of the spuds and the protein kick of the beans. Good video.
