How do burgers made from plants turn into a hundred million bucks?
Huntsville dining enthusiasts get a chance to find out the answer today.
Atlanta restaurant Slutty Vegan’s food-truck tour is holding an event here 1 to 5 p.m. at Blaque Cigar Lounge, located at 4206 Oakwood Ave. N.W.
Founded in 2018 by Atlanta resident Pinky Cole, Black-owned brand Slutty Vegan is now worth around $100 million, according to Fortune. Huntsville’s Blaque Cigar Lounge is another Black-owned business, opened by “Love & Marriage: Huntsville” reality TV stars Marsau Scott and LaTisha Scott around 2020. “Love & Marriage: Huntsville” has been a topped rated show for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN cable network.
The menu for Slutty Vegan’s Huntsville event will include winkingly-named plant based burgers (Sloppy Toppy, One Night Stand, Menage A Trois) and a vegan chopped Philly sandwich called Hollywood Hooker.
All burgers and sandwiches come with an order of crinkle cut “Slutty Fries.” Pricing isn’t being made available in advance of the Huntsville event. However, menu item prices on the business’ website are around $15 to $18 generally.
In addition to their food truck, Slutty Vegan operates around seven brick-and-mortar locations in Atlanta, Brooklyn and Birmingham, which recently temporarily closed before reopening.
