I'm 71 years old and am working on basically becoming a vegan. Meats, pork and poultry don't appeal to my taste buds anymore. I prefer vegetables. I'm on a budget and many of the recipes I find need certain items that aren't cheap and I'm not familiar with using them. Finding appealing vegan recipes hasn't been easy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The only vegetables that don't appeal to me are mushrooms. I'm sure that there could be others that I haven't tried.
Hi Russell,
I've been vegan for 6 years now and I have been growing my own veg for the past 3 years now going about 50% of my own food but I just can't resist a "plant based" burger or chicken alternative. I know how bad it is but like you I was brought up in the 90s. If there is anything you want to know about growing food efficiently also ancient grains efficiently and semi-automatically feel free to contact me. I've made it my mission to make it easier to grow your own food and harvest them than going to the supermarket. I also have one question I have recently been struggling to find a reason for purpose. I have lots of drive more than enough ideas and plenty of know-how but still I sometimes think that we as a human species are absolutely pointless and I sometimes feel like I don't want to be aware anymore. What helped you with this issue if you ever had it? I don't want to have to keep viewing myself in the third person.
Your not vegan Russell. Your a Plant-based poser at best juming on something to boost your dwindling career. How many times have you gone vegan. You cant know what happens to an animal and make a choice not to partake in murder then wake up one day and go back on it.
My cat hated a slice of Quorn chicken um ……..😾
How do you feel about meal replacement shakes?
I doubt many vegans treat these products as healthy. 11 ingredients? Oh god what else are they gonna do.. This article is trying to demonize one category of junkfood against the other with suggestive language. "Highly processed". I wonder what the true intent of this article is, given that no one cares about all the junkfood people eat on the daily. Oh wait.. Its the clicks.
I'll never go vegan. But I am thoughtful about what meat I eat. I grab meat or chicken from a local butcher that sources from a somewhat local organic farm, where the cows and chickens are grass and grain fed and not injected with hormones, etc. If I eat fish….I catch it or get it from the fishermen by the beach. It's not fish bred and raised in tanks. And I feel great. I know it's better, because say if I get a processed meat burger….my stomach disagrees with me and I feel like crap afterwards. Which is why I'll typically get a salad and pasta or small steak if I go out and eat with friends.
Yep. Processed food is making us fat and sick. Modern chronic disease was never about animal fat or red meat. Thats real food. Refined Sugar, grains, and seed oil are the problem. All HPF are full of these and most HPF is vegan.
Jesus this guy looks over 70 years old his skin is waxy and his bones are sticking out 🤢
How old are you? You look over 70.
I make my own burgers so I know what’s in them
im full vegan and eating bugs is eating flesh ill never eat bugs
God bless x hope things get better for everyone trying to avoid the additives
The john wilkes of the 20th century
fake vegan meat? It's real vegan protein meat, not animal meat.
It does make me wonder what's going on when all modern vegan food strives to look and taste like is meat. Is this the point? If we are doing it to protect the cows… why does it still look like the meat you want to protect. Beyond Meat or Tricky Sticky Conscious Meat… think pink peeps 💗
Come on, man. If you cleaned up your diet, you would get disgusted with that junk processed doo-doo. And you, Russel, could do it a little at a time. With your financial situation you could hire cook that would knock your socks off and make your childhood foods taste terrible.
You've heard it "WHOLE FOODS, PLANT BASED". Or the maxim "If eating processed whatever, eat nothing with more than 5 ingredients" or something along those lines.
🦜🤗Lindalie's new year's resolution for 2023 is to try as much as possible to be VEGAN 🌱 🥑 🥗 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋🍌🍉🍇🍓🫐🍈🍒🍑🥭🍍🥥🥝🍅🍆🥑🥦🥬🥒🌶️🫑🌽🥕🫒🧄🧅🥔🍠🥐🍟🍞🍝🥂🍾
Not vegan myself, but my thought process is that the food I eat should be as fresh as possible.
I don't want to eat artificial chemicals and preservatives that I cannot pronounce.
I try to eat mostly plants and plant based as much as possible.
Meat is the same. I'd by far prefer to eat fresh.
For me it's not so much ethical as it is sustainable.
Far easier and faster to grow and eat than to hunt or farm, far more awareness of what I'm actually consuming and certainly cheaper than grocery store markup
I eat normal, no meat substitutes, just avoiding animal products!
I have worked in the natural food WFM/ medicine world for over 30 years. I have often noticed and seen the same things. All of our vegan premade options were filled with chemical crap. We are lazy, we want convince, and comfort of the foods we have abandoned. The savory bacon and chicken and beefiness. 😂 Ohh we are human we crave pleasure especially instant gratification. Mindfulness comes in the moment hence the term. Making better decisions about our food comes with mindful, slow patience and grace. Seeing our body as a beautiful thing you only want to feed with the purest of goodness is self love.
Processed food will always exist. The fact that an alternative to meat is there, cutting meat consumption is a good thing. You shouldn't shoot a company that is being born and helping your cause. I'm not even vegetarian. Being health is an option just like eating or not eating meat. The fact that companies like this makes a lot easier to choose not eat meat for a day, its a very good thing.
Newsflash! High fructose corn syrup is vegan.
IMO the only sustainable way to go vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian is to find a cuisine that's been doing this for centuries, not through highly processed imitation meat.
I’ve been vegan for 5yrs. I got off of the fake meats right away, thank goodness! The less processed foods the better your health will be. I love eating Whole Foods plant based (for me that’s as fresh and uncooked as much as possible) and am never going back.!
Have fun being b-12 deficient
Even tho ur obviously controlled op, this is true about the vegan meat
Choosing to be a vegan is repudiation of what made us human in the first place.
No sh*t, Sherlock.
I love eating animals fuck vegans you all killing the 🐝
"Processed" done not necessarily mean "fake"- unless the ingredients are "unnatural".
There is no substitute for having naturally grown fruits and vegetables accompanying plant-based non-meat products.
Maltodextrin is a polysaccharide – sugar.
I know no one who has become a vegetarian or a vegan overnight.
You have to retrain your brain and your taste buds.
Patience- stick with it.
Been vegeterian/ vegan for years and have found myself eating more and more of these fake meats unfortunately they become available, because of habit from my youth. But i now believe that if your going to be eating these highly processed man made meats that are really bad for us, then your better of eating orgainc farmed meat. If you have to eat these fake meats to be vegan than your truly not in line with the values. As i see that ive also lost my larger view.I see the great middle zone as being organic homsteaders and living 90% of of home grown vegetables and fruits that are in season. If times get tough or the harvest is destryoed and you need to feed your family i then can then warrant killing as peacfully as possible on of your farmed, or even a wild animal to feed your loved ones. I have Native American ancestry and this was a common way of life for the tribes. We can live in harmony with the earth. I see so many modern day Vegans that are so respectfull to animals but are just horrible to there fellow humans, even the good ones. We as a society constantly swing from one side of the ying yang to the other with our extreme addictions and believes. Compassion for yourself, and others, and the animal, and the forest and the warter ways are the way forward, aswell the way it was once was in parts of history. I myself will be focusing on a non processed diet and will no longer eat these fake meats as they are not made with good intention but are made for the new totalitarian world that none of us want.
Can you do a post on what you eat in a day please
So are bugs considered meat because I heard they're making chips with cricket flour now how do we feel about that I don't like it I don't want to eat crickets
I eat a lot of meat. I smoke and i drink heavily. My heart, Liver, Kidneys, Kolesterol, Bladder and blood pressure are all just fine. And i eat a lot of meat and a LOT of "processed" foods. I might be a freak of nature but i really think these health risks are overblown because the industry of Vegan options is a new money machine.
There no longer is "real meat" anymore. It's all been contaminated. The only way to get "real meat" is to raise an animal from birth on an organic diet from non-contaminated land.
Animals are consuming inorganic compounds from pesticides and pollution, which gets into their tissue which people consume. Only safe diet is organic vegan from healthy soil.
Really?
“I think we should eat the food we are evolved to eat“
How can you say shit like this if you’re going to live by the complete opposite and starve your body of the animal proteins that literally saw us evolve from monkeys into humans?!
WTF?!?
Why have we spent 70 years pissing into our education system until it literally becomes an oxymoron in itself because the supposed education of this country shits out stuff like this freak of humanity?!
Eat a fucking burger or some eggs so maybe you’ll remember what you said 0.3 seconds ago (instead of literally saying the opposite thing every other sentence🤦♀️)
Get yourself some help
Stop spreading this oxymoronic BS and check yourself into therapy
😝🤪
This joke is claiming that a plant days diet is something that would supposedly be healthy for you😂🤣😂
Too bad that the only way that we actually evolved to be a supposedly higher life form was all that lovely protein we consumed from “murdering” other animals
The only good thing about vegans is the level of harm they’re doing to themselves means they’re too weak and feeble to do much… The true evil in vegans is that they force it on children and animals (or are straight up obligate carnivores like cats) that genuinely need a balanced diet in order to grow
If you want to starve yourself because you think that you’re a cow then by all means eat grass but you have no right to force your ridiculous ideology on children or animals to their physical harm…
Vegans are foolish we dont have 4 stomachs. We are omnivores and plants feel pain too. We need better solutions not avoidance. Kosher organic non gmo foods. Mediterranean diet or asian is best. We all need fish sause and fermentation of foods. Eat more insects and make chirpfoo with tarantula venom and reconstitute with rinen. Maybe venus fly trap enzymes you planets that eat meat. Most the world needs out bad control and into truth.
Thanks for this…processed plant base food are horrible, full of salt and sugar and gross additives.
