I’d love to hear if you can relate to any of my story! Also, don’t forget to download my free recipe PDF with 31 of my family’s favorite plant-based recipes (https://theconscientiouseater.com/greatest-eats/)
thank you for sharing your story!
because of you I have not beed that black/white about vegan food for quite a while. I let myself enjoy some non vegan treats now and then, and I enjoy it 🙂
After years vegan I started to eat eggs and fish occasionally too.
Mostly plant based as well! 😊 Subscribed❤
Thank you for sharing ❤️ I started my plant based lifestyle for health too, mainly high cholesterol same as you. I love your recipes and will always be your follower🥰 we all need to do what works for ourselves and that is a-okay with me😁 vegan eating has opened up a whole new world of delicious food for me and I’ve become a better cook for it.
That's where separating the "vegan" and "plant based" labels is important. I know a lot of people hate labels, but they aren't meaningless. Veganism is not just a diet and a lot of people outside of vegan/plant based circles don't realize that. I get that you've been transparent in the past about occasionally eating animal products so I don't mean you've been disingenuous, but I do think it's muddying when people call themselves "vegan" or "mostly vegan" (which – you either are or are not) when they do not make the choice to abstain from animal products wherever possible. If I had a nickel for every time someone has requested a vegan option only to be provided with tuna or eggs decorated as "plant based" because "it's just a diet" and "a little bit won't hurt you"… man.
You are simply wonderful, thank you for sharing!
It's super refreshing to hear someone say "You don't have to be 100% vegan." The first 3 years of my journey, Id say I went all in. Then I caved a little bc frankly, it's difficult to restrict yourself All. The. Time. Now about 5 years in, starting in 2017, ok maybe it's 6? Wow 😀 Uhm, I can say I do eat Eggs & some Cheese. But I usually omit the cheese & do let myself have egg. Like you, on an occasion I choose crab meat or something but I rly don't like fish. Still will not eat meat or go out of my way for it. If its something that's gonna be thrown away like leftover pizza or at my job, we have free breakfast, I'll do the biscuits & gravy…..I'll prob do that but that is the extent of eating meat in the last 6 years. My friends & family still dont rly get it, but that's fine. You gotta do you. Just like, I don't go pushing tofu recipes on anyone 😀 I'm js. I think it's important to realize that people in the social media world will food police you & make you feel like a villain more than anyone else in real life ever will. That's just my experience. Those SAME people will act a bully to you on line & not say anything in person! Anyway…Thanks for sharing! <3
If you lose any subscribers—it’s their loss. Since I started following your channel, you’ve been honest about following a mostly plant-based diet. Good for you for doing what’s best for your body, etc. ❤️
I only recently realized there was a difference between vegan and wfpb. 😂 I’ve been pretty close to wfpb for a long while… But last year my cholesterol stunned me (and my dr. 😂) and I gave up dairy and coconut oil. Night and day difference.
I do still allow myself a small amount of kefir and occasional eggs. I eat meats on the weekends sometimes.
I hate seeing divisiveness over diets. 😞 It seems like people could just be glad that someone who isn’t vegan at least chooses to eat mostly plants. 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve been poked at about “consuming calf growth serum,” when explaining that I eat 90-95% plants. Seems silly to get contentious over that small amount and in some else’s diet.
I appreciate this video, because it can be hard to stand up to the trolls.
So glad to see you back on you tube! I love your videos! I started 2 yrs ago due to wanting to become a healthier eater doing vegetarian meals. I have recently gone back to eating some meats as I was depleted in proteins. My hair was falling out and my nails we splitting and horrible. Even with roughage I still suffered with constipation and digestive issues. For me adding meat back into my diet occasionally has improved my health. I will continue to watch your channel because I really enjoy it♥
I am really inspired by what you said I think it’s very intuitive of you. I was vegan for about a year and got a lot of health problems found out that because of my health condition at the time I became massively pro team division. It also created an me a eating disorder where I was terrified to eat certain foods and I had to get therapy for it. I now eat mostly plant-based but I allow myself the freedom to be adaptable sounds like what you’re trying to achieve. I think we all have very stressful lives and very different circumstances and I think ultimately we need to be kind to ourselves.
Love your channel, and I'll still be here for the recipes and inspo! ❤️
You've already touched on the fact you're not a strict vegan in past videos.
You're a gentle person and it's a pleasure to follow you.
Be all more vegan is the most important thing for health and sustainability.
Ps: what a wonderful skin!
Totally get this; when I'm traveling I still don't eat any type of meat but I'm not so strict with dairy.
Poor animals…
I guess next will be red meat and then heavy carnivore diet because we all know this story about cravings.
I loooved this! I was also strictly vegan for roughly 5 years and have also begun on occasion to have eggs or fish. I am ab avid trail ultra runner and after some high mileage training blocks I just started reallllly craving eggs on occasion. Thank you for the honesty. I think being relaxed at times does make WFPB more sustainable and less scary. Takes away the taboo
We appreciate your honesty and we still enjoy your channel. Be you and be happy. Being good to yourself and taking care of yourself is most important. No one is judging you. ❤😀👍
5 year vegan I have never consumed any dairy products and won't

My oncologist suggested I eat plant based, so I started in September. I am not perfect, by any means, but so far I’ve managed to avoid eat and fish. I know this is personal, for my health. I respect your choices, and love your videos! So I will NOT be unsubscribing. Thanks for all you do!
Ya know. This makes sense to me. I watch So many documentaries about how meat and dairy affect your heart and cholesterol. And they probably do! But, what I don’t Understand is- they said that humans are herbivores. I wonder about people in colder climates. I live In Wisconsin, USA and we get cold, snowy Wi tees for several mo the of the year. What did my people do back in the day when you can’t grow food? I’m sure they learned to store foods like potatoes and carrots. But, you can’t tell me they didn’t eat meat on occasion. Like hunt for deer or eat eggs. Idk. Being a strict vegan is very hard. Especially when you were brought up with meat, dairy and processed foods. I try To eat mostly vegan too but occasionally have meat or a sprinkling of cheese on something. I guess I would Be considered Mediterranean then??
Also, I hope Your son feels better now. We have a nasty cold running through our house at the moment! 🤧
love this video!!!!
I can definitely relate. I am mostly plant based but we travel a lot, to different countries and eating out presents a challenge and additional stress. So, when absolutely no plant based alternative is possible I'll add a little fish. I decided enjoying the moment with family and friends was just as important as eating plant based for health reasons. Love your content and make some of your recipes regularly.
I'm almost 62 and learning a plant based diet again. My husband and son still use milk and cheese. We're just doing the best we can. We were vegetarian for most of my life and 10 years ago had a medical event that made me stop. I never judge. We are all making personal choices and reasons for going vegan. Recently mine were ethical, climate crisis, food shortages. Buy never going to stress over not being 100%. My #1 rule In life always be kind.
