I'm planning to follow this for Lent 2021 – I'm entering the Church on Easter, and this is looking like it'll be the most involved season of penance I've ever done! A little nervous, but really looking forward to it. Thank you so much for your resources, Lizzie!! Really, really excited to try out so many of the recipes.
If I wasn't eating keto for fertility, I would totally do this. I'm really impressed that you used Lent as a way to try and encourage others to try your lifestyle instead of the typical vegan that shames others. Very creative!
I've been going vegan ,fasting on Fridays cutting out all sweets for Lent almost 12 years now and by the end of the Lenten season i can really feel the cleansing my body has gone thru,
Yes!! I went vegan last year for Lent (and am doing it again this year) and it was by far the BEST penance I have ever done for Lent! Highly recommend it!!
Thank you, Lizzie! Orthodoxy prescribes "going vegan" for Great Lent, and many other days of the year, so I am always on the lookout for good vegan recipes.
Do your research everyone and make sure your body can handle it. I tried doing this one year and was almost admitted to hospital. I became very dizzy with heart palpitations and hyperventilated. Rmb to also do it for the love of God, and not for ourselves and the vanity of appearing to be disciplined. God bless and have a holy and fruitful Lent ♥️
Why are pushing the vegan agenda so much? There seems to be a mass media push for Veganism and it concerns me that you are right along with that agenda. Those that are strong and immersed in their faith can discern that whatever narrative being pushed in mass media has an ulterior agenda. Vaccinations, going vegan are 2 examples but there are so many more that our youth is being indoctrinated with- feminism, abortion, lgbqt and gender inversion. I’m seriously concerned about anyone on social media that goes along with the “worldly agenda”. Look to Christ for truth and wisdom, not to the (faux) wisdom of men.
I’m probably in the minority here, but I legitimately never struggled going vegan, and for two reasons.
1. I feel like the quality of many cheese/meat alternatives has progressed to the point that they hold up well enough to what they’re trying to imitate, albeit it doesn’t taste exactly the same.
2. If you spice things hard enough, you could probably make even literal cardboard taste great. lol.

You're wonderful, Lizzie; I'm so glad you're going vegan of lent. I'm a would-be vegan – and a would-be Catholic. I always feel better spiritually when I have a day of vegan eating; I'm not participating in the horrible animal cruelty of factory farming and I'm doing my small bit to save the planet. My wife and I become Catholic a few years ago, but now we've drifted away. I love the liturgy and the sacraments and the eucharist, but I've just lost my faith in God. I can't believe that a loving God would let people suffer in Hell for all eternity – even if it's their own actions that put them there. Why would a loving God even create Hell – a place of eternal suffering? Okay, I've gone on too long about my personal struggles.
Anyway, I love your smile and your cheerful attitude. I'd say 'God bless you' if I still beleived in God, but I'll just say, I wish you all the best.
Lizzie, could you please make a video addressing music AT MASS?
Please state the difference between what is licit at Mass in contrast to what is appropriate and how that would relate to bringing in anything to Mass. Specifically, could you please address the rule Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi and how Hillsong music would aid in that.
Secondly, what about the super important Church document Musicam Sacram and what it has to say? All of it – not just certain sections.
I do go vegan for lent. As well as give up coffee and alcohol and only eat when the sun is down. If you don’t give up what you love and die to self. I don’t see the point. Early father’s had spices water bread and wine for the stomach.
I appreciate your video, however I don’t think it would be wise to advise people to not eat meat and then eat a ton of veggies and the like. The reason being is during lent we, those who can, are supposed to have two smaller meals and only one normal sized meal, and no snacking in between or consuming anything, like a milkshake for example, that would break the fast. There are people who would not be able to partake in this plan also such as myself being pregnant and others that are nursing, sick, etc. I agree with not eating as much meat for those people as I do some abstaining from meat now, but completely isn’t a good idea. I will say that I appreciate your videos usually as I have learned some things here and there. Blessings to you!
Thanks for the video Lizzie! I’m going to try some of these recipes! The problem is: I think I’m fasting til 3pm each day, not sure if I could “eat more” for those calories that would even out. (Like Ash Wednesday. One regular meal and two smaller pieces).
Thank you so much Lizzie!! We Orthodox go vegan for every fast, and since this is my first Lent officially Orthodox, it'll be the first time I fully go vegan. I'm so intimidated and nervous so this was sooo helpful!
Lol this is the best and worst way I have ever heard someone promote eating vegan… love it! I’ve been vegan for almost 5 years now and also tie it in closely with my religious beliefs (Church of Christ!!) keep up the great work! Hope you get to raise some great vegan Christians one day… I’m currently expecting and plan on growing a little vegan Christian army with my husband haha
Thanks Lizzie, will have to think about it. Already set on giving up wheat and sugars for lent. Worried if I take out meat I won't have much left to eat. I suppose a lot of fruits and vegetables.
YAAASS!!! WE NEED MORE VEGAN CATHOLICS IN THE WORLD <3!! Also, going vegan for lent (and maybe eventually making that lifestyle change) is such a great way to offer sacrifices to the Lord while also helping to save the environment, animals, and our health
I’m Greek Orthodox and I always had trouble finding vegan meals that I could eat for lent. Thanks sm for this video
considering cutting all meat for lent — not full vegan because i have some allergies to nuts and the like that'd make it quite hard. wish me luck 🙂

Lizzie its so cool that you are going vegan, I'm Orthodox and doing strict fast this year and it's so nice to see a YouTuber fasting for lent

That's the tradition of fasting in Eritrean and Ethiopian Catholic churches. 😊

Lizzie, you realize that every Sunday during Lent is considered a "Little Easter", and could be free of Lenten sacrifice?
Yaaayyu I was really needing help to decide what to do and I think I might! Love this idea ✝️💜
