Hi there! I love your videos. I have a question about calorie restricting vs. eating plenty of calories but exercising to be in a deficit. If I am calorie restricting, I run the risk of not getting enough nutrients in my diet as I wouldn't be eating as much. However, wouldn't this also be true if I'm exercising to be in a calorie deficit, as I would be burning through more reserves than I have, due to burning through the calories/nutrients/minerals etc, since my body will be utilizing those nutrients at a faster pace?
For instance, say that I'm at a 2200 calories maintenance baseline. If I were to restrict my calories, I would be in a calorie deficit, but I would also not be getting all the nutrients I need. However, if I burned 300-500 calories a day, then I would require those extra 300-500 calories in food to continue to maintain my nutrient levels in my body. In other words, if I regularly ate 2200 calories to get the nutrients necessary for healthy metabolic function, then I would need to eat 2700 if I burned off 500 calories through exercise to maintain that level of health. So wouldn't being in a calorie deficit impact your body the same way whether you were eating 1700 calories but not exercising compared to eating 2200 calories but burning 500 calories a day through exercise?
Do I have that right, or am I missing a piece of the puzzle?
You say "if your eating fat, protein and a lot of animal products your basically forced to reduce calories". But fat and protein are essential. Carbs aren't. You can make carbs from fat or protein, you can't make anything from carbs. You also can survive on fat alone with a multi-vitamin. I mean you wouldn't want to do it and you shouldn't do it. But you could do it. I never understand people who try to pretend that you shouldn't eat animals because it's bad for you, it's not bad for you.
It's bad for them. Which is perfectly reasonable, but considering B12 is essential and not in plants. It's pretty clear your body was designed to intake animals. You can survive as eskimo/inuit and such do off just meat and fat and take in no plants, this makes sense because of course all meat you eat is made from plants. But plants aren't made from animals.
If you eat a vegetarian animal, your eating something that is designed to survive on plants alone and can, therefore, create all the essentials from plants and you can steal those things from it. But if your not a vegetarian animal, you can't automatically do that because your likely relying on getting it from eating other animals and in humans, there are some things you will miss (like b12).
There are also some things you can get but clearly you're getting them through means that most humans throughout history didn't. You can say things like "nuts" for protein, but your ignoring that nuts are only a 24/7 food thanks to factory farming. for 98% of human history, access to high protein nuts and legumes was a thing you could rely on for maybe 6 months a year not twelve.
sugar is what kills you, now raw foods do solve this and with modern factory farming techniques where you can have ready access to a million different types of plants during drought or monsoon and winter or summer your diet is totally sustainable. But it's not a reflection of anything but the unique circumstances you find yourself in by living in the (currently) 2% time period of history where such a thing is possible as a person who is by historic measures of wealth, in the top 1%.
It's not at all a reflection of a real sustainable means by which some random person in history could commit to.
I have a question I am completely raw vegan Fruitarian/ raw vegan but are eating higher fat lately.. nuts and seeds I rarely eat… I eat mostly avocados.. I will not eat cooked food period.. but in this winter months and not so good fruits higher fat seems better for me plus I'm eating tons of greens and vegetables.. also this cuts my time in half so I can spend more time with my little baby and do things around the house for him and the hubs. I used to have really itchy skin and get constipated on high fat but not anymore why do you think this is? Also having baby 7months PP. My hunger has decreased alot and I have to remember to eat plus I breastfeed so just eating has been a struggle for me. I know for sure most days I'm not even eating 1500 calories which makes me so angry because I need to eat.. I just don't have the appetite, nor the desire too. Help Please what is your take on all this. Thanks in advance;)
I agree! I find that eating raw I can eat much more calories and not gain weight. I think one of the reasons of this is all of the fiber in the fruits and veggies💕😊🌱
I have to say the bikram yoga has helped me break through a plateau I've been on for a few months. Although the fact that I didn't gain any weight during my cooked food extravaganza is pretty FLIPPING AMAZING hahaha. Anyways, exercise for the win! Fit fam 2019 here we come. <3
Thank you!

Yes 🤗 thank you for this video. It makes perfect sense and answers a question I had.

Won’t our bodies naturally seek homeostasis as we exercise more and therefore increase our appetite to fill any caloric deficit/gap?
You proved this with your own experience! amazing results!

Will I gain weight doing this…
You remind me of Jess from new girl lol
I have a question regarding your books. Does volume 2 have all the same recipes as volume 1 plus extras or are they different recipes all together?
A lot of people don’t understand this but you are 100% correct. This is also the way to keep this weight off
What about the view that calorie deficit will cause metabolic rate slowing down so it defeats the purpose of weight loss.

Love this!! I still can’t believe people still calorie restrict! I never recommend going much below 2400. Scares me what some people are promoting!
Good video. For me I beleive to eat more fats like Cara Brotman And Markus Rothcrantz,It suits me better than to eat a ton of fruits.
Thank you for sharing.
