Add cashews!
My family makes one very similar to this. We toast the almonds and crumbled up noodles. I haven't done the sesame seeds but I will try it next time and we do use sugar instead of maple syrup. Lastly we use the coleslaw mix so green cabbage, red cabbage and carrots. Otherwise everything else is the same. My whole family loves it even the kids 😁
Here's my Oriental Salad:
1 nappa cabbage – shredded
6 green onions – sliced
Toast:
7 oz chow mein noodles
3/4 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
Dressing:
1 cup salad oil
1/2 cup cider vinegar
3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Mix 1/2 the cabbage with part of the dressing, then add more cabbage and more dressing (I usually do not use all the dressing – can be saved for later). The cabbage shrinks down after the dressing has been added.
Just before serving, add chow mein noodles, almonds and sunflower seeds and mix thoroughly.
NOTE: Chow mein noodles go soggy if salad sits too long.
Omg u don't like big bang?? Lol each to the y own.lol its ok
please order their chai – IT IS SO Good!!!!!!!!!!!! (from Toronto here- supporting local!)
Looks delicious 😋
I've been making this for two years since this video came out and still love it! The pumpkin seeds are great since I'm allergic to almonds

Is it just me or does every Canadian have their own version of this recipe.
I make one similar to this. Dressing is just a little different. My family loves it.
Rice vinegar is what I use!! I also don’t I just Ramen very well because of what’s in it and I started using those either one to noodles or stirfry noodles to add some crunch
And this kids is how a boschetar ( Romanian Royalty ) Cooks
Google Translate: They won't translate that unknown word, don't worry.
Looks great gonna try it, your so cute…
But do you like the band Big Bang?
CANADA 👍🏿
I like this with Napa cabbage and very finely shredded red cabbage and thin slivers of red onion and carrot.
I also shred carrots into this salad and add turmeric into the dressing for health benefits:) one of my family’s favs.
Can we get freestyle fridays again?
Yum!
My hubby LOVES both cabbages and Asian food! Can’t wait to try this for him
I'm going to try this! Love from India ❤️
yum
Amazing recipe. but did no one notice the wasp in the cabinet at 6:21? 😂😂😂😂✌🏾✌🏾
in my family we have something called chinese coleslaw which is eerily similar to yours. just without the green onion , and there’s some purple cabbage thrown in there as well. ugh. so yum. could eat all in one sitting , but her father is right. gets better as it sits 😋
OMG that intro LMFAO!!! I was just looking for a simple cabbage salad and I got so much more!! you look like Chris Cornell and sound like John McGuirk from Home Movies lol Thanks, guys. FYI I loved those noodles but recently found out they are super unhealthy. You might want to look into it since your so health conscious.
Dude I do keto but vegan keto is so impossible. You guys should do more recipes like this for people on keto who are struggling… like me.
Kudos and thank you.
I like your kitchen
Packaged ramen noodles. Not in my salad.
Canadian crack I love it. I'm from Victoria BC so I really get the Canadian hummer 🇨🇦
Perfect recipe, I had a full head of green cabbage and was looking for an Asian dish, I have added edamame and shredded carrots for color and black sesame seeds, didn’t have slivered almond and used brown rice ramen, was the perfect side dish to my ginger butternut squash soup. Made the dressing without oil, just added water
Ohhhh this was delissss! I made mine with both white and red cabbage after softening them a bit with salt. Then instead of the noodles and almonds I crushed roasted peanuts, then added sesame oil with a homemade light colored vinegar and sprinkled sesame seeds. Tasted similar to the fresh papaya salad I had in southern Thailand! Yummyyyyy!!! 😝
